What is the range of a Well L-96?
I was also going to ask the price range, but I'm not age verified yet so I don't want you guys getting mad at me lol.
I'm just curious though because the bb gun I want from walmart is apparently $150, so I was thinking that I might was well just get the L-96 if it's in the price range instead of the bb gun. And no, I don't expect to be a sniper right away haha. I just want the gun ASAP and I'll get an M4 or something after. |

Well, it will depend what weight BB you use and if you adjust the hopup.
I suggest the BB gun as it will be cheaper and more accurate out of the box.

.177 is caliber, and .2/.25 is weight. If you wanna plink around Id suggest you get the BB gun since its cheaper (you won't find any L96 for less than $300, and thats without adding aftermarket upgrades to make it somewhat decent in terms of range and accuracy. You would be looking at about $600-$1000 to make a decent airsoft bolt action). Sniping in airsoft is nothing like what you see in movies or video games. It takes lots of patience, its not uncommon for a sniper to spend 3 hours moving only a couple hundred feet, and rarely if ever taking a shot. If you intend to use it in a game then you better forget about it since noob snipers are not welcomed given the lack of experience. Bolt action operators are generally people who have proven themselves safe and others are comfortable at having them use a bolt action safely given the increased chance of injury from someone with less experience.

the L96 takes a 6mm BB at varying wieghts such as .2, .25, .28 etc...
a BB gun uses a .177 caliber bb, totally diffferant ammunition. the Range of an L96 varies on the type of upgrades that are installed and the adjustment of the hop-up. if you are new to the sport, a bolt action is highly frowned upon as your first weapon. everyone will suggest for you to purchase a AEG. this is also due to the reason that you will not be allowed to play with a "hot" gun (as most bolt actions shoot 400fps and above) Get age verified and buy yourself an AEG |

.177 is the caliber (i.e., 4.5mm)
airsoft is 6mm Typical .177cal BBs are 5.1 grain (~0.33grams) Airsoft BBs typically range from 0.2grams to 0.3 grams You won't get anything worth two shits for $150 in airsoft. You can get a decent plinker airgun that'll shoot straight and last a decade for $150.

The range of an airsoft sniper rifle is the same as a regular rifle (assuming no upgrades have been put into either gun)
The range of the most heavily upped sniper rifle using a non-clone rifle and quality parts, such as PDI, prometheus etc, would probably be 200-250ft, in terms of effective range. Past that (IIRC), its a crapshoot in terms of mother nature. This is me regurgitating info that i have picked up. Others such as Amos, CDN_Stalker, or Fox would be better suited to this kind of questioning. |

Yup, a well tuned sniper rifle will be able to reach it's target up to 250fts. Beyond that, it's a combinaison of skill and luck. Much like extreme long range shots in the real world.
In term of acuracy, it's nothing compared to a pellet rifle. With those I can shoot a small bird beyond 300fts. With my tuned airsoft M24 or L96, I can barely hit a human target at those range, depending on the weather conditions. Don't expect much out of a Well L96. Even if you upgrade it with the best parts, since the base gun as lax quality control, you will have a lot of problems and that result in inconsistency between shots or major failures.

Thats assuming something like a Well/TSD/cheap clone will even accept those high-quality upgrade parts. I once saw a Well L96 that barely took ANY upgrade parts because it was just so badly built. Couldn't fit simple things like a new trigger, bolt, cylinder, hopup without MAJOR mods to both the rifle and the part itself. Whenever doing so you risk decrease in intended function and reliability.

We have 8 replies and almost none of the posters have even bothered to read the original post where he asked for price range, not shooting range. ASC...
Michaeljm, the price range is roughly $300 before shipping. That said, most people agree that unless you put about $1000 into an airsoft sniper rifle on a decent platform (TM/CA, definetely not TSD/Well unless you swap most of the internals), it will not be a very good sniper rifle. .177 calibur is a 4mm diameter metal bb/pellet air gun. That is an airgun and is not an airsoft gun (6mm plastic bbs) and will not be allowed into a game as it is dangerous and can cause injuries.

the title states he's asking what the range of it is, and in his post he is also asking what the price range is. everyone here has answered both A. depending on upgrades your range will vary B. without upgrades your looking at about 300$ + |
