Plastic Vs Metal

I have to get some mags for my L85 and I want to hear your opinion about that.

Plastic or metal?

Depends. Do you want better weight and feel, but more expensive mags, or lighter mags that you can lose and it won't matter?

Also take into considoration your budget when it comes picking the two. If you feel that you shouldn't be paying a whole whack for magazines, buy plastic, they do the job, and they feed well depending if you get the better brand (I've had best luck with STAR magazines.) And should you loose them or break them, buy more. I got a box of 10 plastic AK mags for only 60 bucks, which is a great deal for me. They do their purpose, all have been tested and feed well, but chances are that they will break, the plastic isn't perfect.

Metal, you get durable, nearly flawless magazines, weighted and sturdy. Chances are if you keep care of them they will do you good in the long run. But they end up becoming a huge investment and will be a pain should you loose one.

So, it comes to choice, would you think its worth it?

I would get 5 plastic mags before 1 metal mag.

Like 'Styrak' mentioned... You *may* lose them..

I often hear about how metal mags are more durable but I find I can beat up plastic mags far more before they break. Plastic is less durable in that it wont take abrasion as well but is more flexible so will bend or dent instead of splitting or cracking open.

Metal mags can be disassembled and cleaned if they get full of sand or something, plastic cannot.

Metal mags sound much nicer when being inserted or removed from the magwell.

Its possible to lose a metal magazine as well. Sure there is a weight difference but its still possible.

Also depends where you are playing too I'd figure.
i.e. its a bit harder to lose mags in an indoor field vs out in the woods.
remember to get a dump pouch!

You don't always need a dump pouch, just put your mags back in your pouch. Also tape your mags, then it's easier to find lost mags.

I'm beginning in this sport, so I don't know where I'll play mostly.

You can continue giving your opinions, more advice is best than none...

I have both metal and plastic. I've only used the metal ones at games out of personal preference. well, I did acquired the 5 plastic m4 mags in a deal but have yet to take them out of the house.

plastic just seems too light weight for me.

Depends on the L85 to. I've head that the STAR/ARES one is really fussy about mags.
