Shot Consistency

Hey airsofters. I was driving today and I had a burning question in my mind. I have upraded the inner barrel to a Promethesus 6.03 inner barrel a few months ago to hopefully increase the accuracy of my gun. When I fire my CA M15A4 at close distances, it is pretty consistent as I can hit small targets most of the time. At farther distances, my gun is a bit more inconsistent as some bb's fly higher/lower than others. This may be a dumb question, but would upgrading the other internals, ie. air nozzle, piston/piston head or cylinder help to increase the consistency of the power of the gun, and hence, the consistency of the shots?

sounds like you have a lubed/greased/inconsistent/frictionless hop up rubber.

yes, get a good hop up rubber such as Prometheus soft.

oh actually, i got the guarder clear hop up. Was I supposed to wash the inside of it with dish washer soap before i installed it?? Also, I actually turned my hop up all the way down so the nub is not pressing down on the BB at all. Does this give you more insight about my problem?

BTW, whats SCS?

An SCS is a custom Hop-up Nub that provides more surface contact when applying hop-up, therefore creating a more accurate shot.

In regards to the Hopup rubber washing, if you Lubed the actual rubber, take it out, and wash it with dish soap. Dry, and voila. This could also be caused by Lubing your mags, which would in turn lube your hop-up. Running a full clip of the Lubed BB's should wipe most of it away, and increase accuracy.

Agreed.

After years of tinkering I have come to the firm conclusion that hop-ups should never be lubed, at all, ever, regardless of brand or what the owner's manual says. This will mean some wear, and you may have to change hop-up sleeves or adjusters from time to time, but so what?

Also, your BB is of concern. Use a quality BB, the heavier the better if consistancy is your goal. Never cheap out on BBs.

I would recommend BB Bastards, you won't be dissapointed. Also, I've heard the New SCS works very well with Guarder Soft rubbers, can anyone confirm?

Hello guys, thanks for all your replies. In regards to the type of BB's im using, im using BB Bastard 0.25g.

1. Where do u guys get this SCS nub?
2. Would lubbing my magazines still help considering that my hop up is COMPLETELY turned off?
3. I bought some silicon lubrication that comes in a spray can from Home Depot. Its foamy when you spray it out. Can I use this to lubricate my 68rnd magainzes? How do i spray it inside and how much do i spray?

1)
There is a Thread on it in Here. Just search Shredders concave Spacer and it has a link.

2)
Only lube your magazines when they arent feeding properly, because it renders your hop-up useless for about a full magazine of BB's. No point if its feeding fine.

3)
Make sure its 100% silicon, get the lightest weight you can, you can try RC Car shock oil
and only use 2-3 drops. A little goes a far way.

Where do you usually drop the silicon? Is it where the BB's feed in the chamber at the top of the mag?

Yes. Put 2-3 drops on silicon oil down the feeding tube, and work the spring with either a unjamming rod, or simply load and unload the mags with BB's. If you really want, you could disassemble the mags, stretch the springs, and lube the spring also, but usually jsut the feeding tube is okay. The Latter would be fore extremely stubborn feeding, and a last resort
