Ares Tar 21 - (Add your reviews to this too)

Hello Airsoft Canada

I bring to you the Ares Tar 21. I'll try to keep this brief and concise

Its a great gun but go to my 2nd post if you want skip the talk and see what kind of REPORTED PROBLEMS there are with the TAR 21

A Rose for those who will feel its PAIN!!

Why would you buy a Ares Tar 21?

Most likely if you ask yourself this question you are a person who loves the bullpup guns and is a big fan of them all. Whether you have shot one or owned one or use to own one you know that these type of design is for you.

Not everyone enjoys the bullpup design and thats okay as it does take some getting use to when holding it.

I bought the Ares Tar 21 because I loved my P90 but I found it too short for Outdoor games and a Steyr Aug was just too long for me to engage in my running action play (For those who play with me you know I run around crazy)

Physical Features

The body is wonderful, very nice design and is strong, I have no worries of it breaking or cracking

- Comes with MARS red dot sight
- Flip Iron sights (Work well even with MARS on)
- Hard strong body
- No Wobble as I shake it hard
- Beat the body like it owes me money, no scuff marks
- Back Stock - Strong Rubbery feel better than my P90 and Aug which tended to be a bit slippery

If I beat my P90 body it will show some scuffs but on the Tar 21 I barely noticed any from my beating of it

Heres a video of me beating it let me know if you want me to hit it harder
YouTube - Ares Tar 21 - Bash Test

Beating it some more!
YouTube - Ares Tar-21 - Bashing it some more

Shooting

Accuracy test will be done when I find a adequate firing range
(ie. No pesky neighbors watching)

Firing the gun I noticed that the design of constructing the hopup chamber attached to the Gearbox gave it a nice clear, sharp and crisp noise. Very different than from my other AEGs. It is noticeably different, I can surmise that the sharp crisp sound is attributed to a good air seal

Mag Compatibility

I believe they are TM compatible as my King Arms Metal M4 mags worked

- TM Compatible
- King Arms M4 Metal mags

Internals
I cannot say it better than this video

YouTube - Ares TAR 21 Airsoft Tavor review by Moondog

Battery and Gearbox can be accessed at the back with one pin to push out to open it

- 300 - 315 FPS on 0.20g
- Tightbore Inner Barrel
- Hopup unit is attached to the Gearbox and can be removed
(Gives a nice crisp sound when shooting, good air seal)

Battery Compartment
- Small 9.6v Batttery
- Lipo

Gearbox
- Modified version Gearbox 6
A screw off back plate at the back of the gearbox to unscrew and easily change the spring out
- MOSFET electrical trigger (Lipo ready)
- 8mm Bushings

**The Gearbox can be quite a bitch to get too, lots of screws to take out**

**Reported Problems**

This information was found from reviews on other forums
http://forums.airsoftmechanics.com/i...p?topic=2097.0

These are listed in Order of How Severe the Problem from 1 = most severe and then ranked down

1. - Piston
.....Shave part of the piston for it to not hit the gearbox
.....Modify or Deep Fire nozzles work well

2. - Short Type Motor eventually dies Replace with either
.....Magnum Short
.....Guard Infinite Torque
.....Matrix High Torque

3. - LIPO battery
use will eventually strip the gears some have reported even a 9.6v may be spin the gears too fast that it shoots like full auto on semi
.....Best guess is to use a 8.4v battery

4. - Air Nozzle (Needs to be replaced, its leaky)
....Prometheus M4 Air Nozzle = Replacing it will make the FPS go up by 40-50 FPS since the ARES nozzle leaks

Haha I would do a 2 story test if I am going to fall that high in a game, I hope the Tar 21 will break my fall :P

I hope I don't get runned over by a Jimmy with Shirley in it, if the gun is still alive and I am too then it has passed the ultimate test

EDIT

MoreToasties just for you I beat it up some more

I must say I am already impressed with the strength up to this point. That would seem to be enough of a test to compare to a game and a few accidents / stumblings.

I don't think he wants to test it to destruction just to let us know what the breaking point is... lol

I am quite satisfied with what I have seen, and it appears to be legit! Something legit in video form on the internet, who woulda thunk it lol.

Thanks for the comment Johnnyrico, yeah I did not want to beat it to oblivion but at least show that in a game the odd bang on the floor or wall should be no problem

As for the cost, it certainly did not cost over $1000 thats for sure and yes it was worth it, the way this gun shoots is amazing the air seal and the sound it makes is so crisp. Its as if it was modded to the tits.

Reviewing them and also selling them on a preorder.....hmm.

Anywho, you keep saying "still works". Lol, why would it not work if you hit it with a hammer?
