M4A1 Carbine Locked.
Sorry if this is a repeat thread. But I looked thoroughly and couldn't find another. My problem used to be that the gun wouldn't respond at all but I opened it up. Version 2 Mech box for the Tokyo Marui M4A1 carbine which has been modified into an SR-16.
So my original problem was the piston being jammed at the back. I read a lot of threads with people with this problem. So I took all the advice I could and incorporated into one fix. So I open it up releasing the tension of the spring, slap it back together. Pull the trigger and the piston again jams in the back. Before when I pulled the trigger nothing happened at all. but now when I pull it I can hear the motor clicking, Its trying to pull it. So im hoping this is an improvement. Anyways a few months ago this rifle was working. But suddenly it stopped working. Mech box: Version 2 (Tokyo Marui M4A1 Carbine) Battery: 9.6 V 1500 mAh Spring: PSI 150% This model is a few years old, some consider it to be antique. it used to shoot 280-300 fps. I went to www.mechbox.com and watched a disassembly on the version 2 mechbox. Its all freshly lubed, greased and oiled and all the parts in it are working to standards. Any conclusions or any ideas at this time would be wonderful. Or I could use it as a 6 1/2 pound paper weight. Which would look pretty sexy. I read that some solutions were to remove barrings from the spring. Sorry, when I think of barrings I think of giant steal rings with 20 steel balls inside a ring. So I'm sure you guys mean something else entirely. If you guys need pictures I can add them or even a video if necessary of what I need done. Basically overall, I plug it, put it on semi, pull trigger, piston pulls back, jams at the end. Keep pulling trigger it makes a clicking noise. Pretty much sums it up. I know it sounds stupid, but charge the battery, connect it directly to the mechbox, try again. If it doens't work and you hear a motor click and the batter heat up, then it actually is a mechanical jam.

Alright I'll check into it.

also, it could be the motor height. Memorize where the motor height position is, then screw it in as much as you can with a medium amount of force, then turn it back 1 full turn. After that, keep adjusting in half turn intervals until the motor sounds its quietest

I was doing that before but I'm currently charging the battery and I am about to hook it up directly to mech box, I'll post my results.

Sorry for the long overdue response. The adjustment of the motor had no effect. I sat down with it and fiddled around with the adjustment for about an hour and had no luck. So I am going to add some visual add.
So that's what it looks like now. The second picture is to show you guys if everything looks well positioned. Some of the gears may not be at the right O'clock. I would love to be able to play CQB with my brother. Sadly a hot sniper rifle isn't allowed in doors. Like I would use it anyways :P All doctors welcomed! I am open to anything, if there is something I left out. Please let me know, if you want a video I can get you one. Thanks, Oliver Balzer Last edited by Olisharpeye; July 1st, 2009 at 21:32.. |

when the piston is jammed at the back is the piston's rails are engaged in the rear mechbox's rails ?

The Gun was upgraded with metal bushings and a new spring (PDI 150) It was cut down to reduce the fps to be used in CQB.
I'll check the rails really quickly. one second. The Spring rails are engaged. We have taken it apart a good ten times now. Im hoping one of these times it will work. Last edited by Olisharpeye; July 1st, 2009 at 21:05.. |

Well I don't see why this spring would stop working now, It worked the past few years with no problems. The stock one snapped So we bought a new one. The upgrade was done by Retailer : 007 Airsoft. It worked like a dream until a few months ago. and the piston started jamming suddenly.

look for exessive wear on the piston or mechbox's rails, fully charged battery? i guess yes?
other than that i think she'll need a little time on a local gundoc's operation table lol

If there is a gun doc in the Tri City area in Kitchener-Waterloo. I would love to know. But I will open Sheila up again (Sheila is the mechbox) for excessive wear on the rails and piston.

Disassemble your pistonhead from the piston body. Remove any spacers inside the piston body. Are you using pistonhead with bearing?

So I now have it open, I took some pictures The piston head is questionable. The piston itself is still in good condition. a little over greased, The rails are not damaged and greased. I will post pictures in a minute.
