New barrel install help please

Hey , I've recently got a new barrel for my CA xm177e2, and figured that today i'd pull it apart and see how complicated it is to install.
I'm pretty sure I've got it put back together basically right, rubber sleeve on the end, groove on the barrel aligned with the notch on the sleeve, BUT,
On disassembling the unit here, i've also found a "mystery" brass ring/spacer, and I didn't make a conscious note of exactly where it came from..

Please refer to the picture..
Right now i've reassembled it as best I can, and the brass ring is sitting snugly in position 1, between the new barrel and the metal housing. I'm left wondering though, if I should have slipped it into position 2, maybe up against the end of the rubber sleeve??

Oh, and #3 there is the plastic clip that i've managed to crack in the process. It's not in two pieces, but it's certainly not tight now like it should be. Any suggestions on where to find a new one ?? ASPC doesn't have them..

Anyway, in short, have I reassembled this correctly so far, or should I move that ring to postion 2?

any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks in advance!

The ring should be at the very end, #1.
