Importing License

What is the license called you need to hold in order to import airsoft guns in canada? If you have a restricted firearms license can you import for your own personal use? Not for re-sale is the question. I'm asking because it turns out my girlfriends dad has a firearms license.

You need a business firearms license and you will never get it cuz the RCMP is retarded. And you cant have it for personal use cuz you need to have a business location that is not ur home. THE END.

No, No, and No. You can not import airsoft if you have a firearms licence.

1. Business Firearms Licence.

2. R-PAL has absolutely nothing to do with importing airsoft.

no you cannot use your PAL or RPAL for importing airsoft, you must have a Business Firearm Licence (BFL) to do so, and it is hard to get one as you must actually own a prop company or be involved in film/tv production to even have your application considered.

No. Importing requires a business firearms license. And not just any license. It has to allow for the importation od prohibited items for film / tv production.

There is currently no way to import airsoft for personal use unless it has a clear receiver.

No, you are way, way WAY off the mark.

The license is a Firearms Business License (for which you need an established, actual brick-and-mortar building) with a special license to import movie props (which, last time I heard, were not being issued anymore). The license also costs several thousand a year.

it sound like there is lots of mixed opinions here. im not talking about a business license. For example my girlfriend grandfather in Edmonton just passed away and he collected replica guns and has one of the biggest replica gun collections in Canada. Some if not all were imported form the US. I'm assuming all gun get stopped at the border but if you appeal with a firearms license will you not be aloud to keep it. Im not considering this as an option but i spoke to him on the phone and he ask...i didn't know the answer...sounds a bit all over the map. Not a straight yes or no. Sounds like its a matter of the situation?

There is no mixed opinion, you need to sharpen your reading skills. Everyone has said the exact same thing.

As for your girlfriend's grandfather, he's a grandfather, so he's old. Which he means likely acquired his collection prior to the law on replica firearms (1995/8). Also, I'm betting a good number of what you think are replica firearms are actually deactivated firearms.

This is a straight yes/no situation. No.

I might be mistaken about this but I think the law states that firearms and replica frearms can't be passed on in a will or inheritance. My uncle had an antique colt peace maker. And when he passed away even though my cousin also has a permit, he was not allowed to keep it.

You can "grandfather" (pass down within the family) prohibited firearms. It's the only way civilians can privately get prohibited firearms since about the 1970s.

You cannot grandfather replica firearms.

by mixed opinion i don't mean mixed answers. if you read most of the above people disagree slightly about it. i Finished reading mcguyverpost and that is what i was looking for in an answer. I can do without the sly remarks about reading skills. As i said in my 1st question is was geared towards my girlfriends dad and not myself. I am in no way interested in importing guns. This topic i see is a bit touchy so ill leave it at that. Thank you...most of you for your input.
