G&G M4 CQB - Good buy for first timer?

Please let me preface this with an introductory "hello" everyone at Airsoft Canada.

Now lets get on to brass tax. I've been looking around at Canadian online retailers for AEGs. The M4 CQB from buyairsoft.ca (http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=439) seems like great value for money based on my newbie eyes.

I've seen in some other posts that there are quality differences between the G&G M4 sold by 007Airsoft and the one sold by I think it was Mach1 Airsoft. I was wondering if anyone knows which version the buyairsoft.ca M4 is.

This package seems to include everything I need to begin playing airsoft in a real game.

Would anyone familiar with this specific AEG or brand recommend it to a first time airsoft player?

I also welcome any other suggestions if this is not the best route to take for a first timer.

One a side note, I wish I could be age verified without going out to a game. I would really like to see the used marketplace to see if I can find something better in the used market. Oh well. Rules are rules.

The Shooting galsses may say they are shatter proof, but.... They are pretty flimsy and I would recommend different set of eye protection as most places would require different goggles regardless.

I would probly put the quality of the buyairsoft one at the bottom of the list.
I have no actual evidence to prove that it is and none to prove that it isnt, something in the pit of my stomach just tells me that it is.

In regards to your request of which brand is most first timer friendly, I wish I could just spout you off a legitimate list, but as it stands the majority of it would be all opinion based.

Myself, I personally prefer Tokyo Mauri, the father of modern electric airsoft that we know today, good quality internals. Alot of models and high availability through this websites buy and sell section.

There are alot of brands out there, Classic Army, G&P, G&G, King Arms, JG and the list goes on and on and on. If I were you I would take sometime and skim through the internet and research up info and reviews on the brands and draw your own conclusions. Once you have formulated an opinion in regards to the companies you are interested in purchasing from then you can maybe consider taking that leap into purchasing your first gun.

BuyAirsoft.ca is carrying the tinted receiver version from CAS.

As several members have pointed out this version is 'cheaper' and isn't the same externally so there's a huge possibility that corners were cut going into the internals.

Your best bet would be to get the G&G CQB-R from Mach1Airsoft or 007 Airsoft.

I brought mine as a trail to see what the design quality and workmanship was like compared to the other main brands of Airsoft Weapons. Also we had a special deal for Airsoft New Zealand members.
I would personally say its a reasonably good weapon for its price and it has a metal body.

Problems we encountered with the G&G weapons............

Some of us had issues with the Mag Release - They brake easily, So you should replace it or order a spare one.

We also had issues with the King Arms Mags not fitting into the Mag Well properly. (Only on a couple of the G&G GR16's)They became loose and wobbled around in the mag well, and sometimes just fell out while in the field.

What ever you do..... DO NOT twist the rear stock at all on the CQB - R , Because the battery wires poke through a tiny hole in the stock, and you will cut them off. (as I did)

We also found that the gear box screws had been over tightened and almost impossible to unscrew without damaging the screws / hex keys.

Reliability is still to be assessed as they are still too new to comment on. Other than that they seem to be good reasonably low cost weapons for the beginner or someone with a defined budget.

I am personally a Tokyo Marui fan, As they make very good quality and reliable weapons which have been popular with most of the Airsoft Community world wide. But they can be a bit pricey.
You can upgrade them easily with G&P or King Arms accessories such as metal bodies and front ends etc to create your own personal touch.

G&G tend to be hit or miss. Every single one that has come across my workbench has been totally fubar. Everything from mostly garbage internals to trigger contacts made from such a soft metal they weld themselves together after a while and the gun is stuck on full auto unless you disconnect the battery. Others have had some really good luck with G&G guns.

Personally for an armalite I would stick with CA, G&P, or ICS, CA being the cheapest on the list. You can find several for sale in the sales area.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still torn between buying from Mach1/007airsoft or buyairsoft.com. The price disparity is about $100.

Spend the extra $100 so you can save yourself the hassles of discovering that it'll cost more than $100 to upgrade the CAS one to Mach1/007 Quality. Hell I can tell you now it'll be alot more!

Yeah I'm sure you guys are right. I guess I'll go with Mach1 or 007. I was hoping that if I was going to spend $500 on a gun that I would be getting one that I really wanted. The only reason I'm even considering an M4 is because out of all the clearsoft guns available for sale I dislike the M4 the most.

007Airsoft a bit more expensive than Mach1. Do they carry the same products or is there a quality difference?

(revised) FYI, I'm getting the one from buyairsoft, and they are all essentially the same thing. They have some slightly different external construction materials, but they have the same internal durability and performance. sorry for the mistake.

Buyairsoft carries the 3rd tier level of G&G Guns (Combat Machine branded). Whereas 007 and Mach1 carry the regular G&G (G&G branded). However there is another higher tier of G&G (Toptech branded).

All are the same G&G but just different tiers. Much like the CA and CA "sportline" tiers.
