Comms?
Right, I'm semi familiar with radio procedure, how to send and recieve all that jazz
What I would like to know is what a good/reccommended radio would be for me to get? I'd LIKE to stick to american radios such as Motorola but feel free to reccomend anything that you've had good experience with.

I second the Linton 6288. I have one and it works great. I used it once at Border Wars II, and even completely across the very sizeable field through the woods, I had crystal clear signal. Also used it at the mill in Beauharnois. From the 4th floor, I had no issues receiving and sending to the staging area at the opposite end of the building on the first floor. And at $80, it's very reasonably priced for a UHF radio.
And there's no such thing as an American radio anymore. Everything electronic is made in China or Asia these days.. The company may be American, but the products themselves aren't.
