Gearbox Locked Up/ Screw

Okay so I bought a re enforced gearbox from airsoft gi.
I fired about over 400 rounds.

So today I was just doing semi, and then switched to automatic and shot it nonstop for about 20 bbs flew out.

Then the thing just went click click, I thought it was my motor, but it was not until I took it out.

Now I don't have the tools to open these screws circled in the picture below.

The cylinder is locked up.

When I shove the motor in, the thing goes click click, and I see the cylinder clicking too.

Can I now open the box up and fix it like that, or do I have to go out and buy a tool just to open the screws and then fix it?

Gearboxes give me such a headache..

Screws look to be #10 torx. First reach in through the motor opening in the bottom and pull the antireversal latch down. You'll need something like an oring pick or the like, something strong. A paperclip will not do. Once the antireversal latch is off the bevel gear, the gearbox should center itself. Reassemble just the grip and motor to the box and fire it a few times. If you have the same problem, time to open it up. Just make sure your battery is fully charged before you test it.

Or u can find a flat head screw driver and try to push the bevel gear inside the grove, it should only take one more or two more rotations for it to release

hey,

Those screws from the pictures look like allen keys and torqs head.
I just recently had the same problem, once you get the piston and spring released from the back position, and you remove the one coverside from the gearbox. You will have a better view of whats going on in their.....

When my mechbox was going click, click it was because my gears werent placed/lined up properly. But you stated that your mechbox was working and is now not working....so could be a spring issue, gears, a connection somewhere.....wont know till you open it up.

Let us know what you find....

Is that the lovely JG Mechbox?

As other have suggested, manually release the anti-reversal latch: the piston should return to battery unless something has catastrophically failed.

If you aren't in the know, the anti-reversal latch is the little thing on the rear left between the spur (middle) and bevel (bottom) gear:

It'll disengage by being rotated down/back.

If it is indeed the Junk Gong gearbox, be prepared to open it up sooner or later, or have it sent to a gun doctor to bring it back up to snuff.

Easier way to release the piston is to insert a 3mm or similar T-handle hex key in the nozzle and push the piston back until it releases. Heavier spring will require alot of force to do this, but put the hex key down into a workbench or floor and push with the gearbox.

It still doesn't move.. I took it out, the reversal latch was a bitch with the little spring, anyways, I put it back in the way it supposed to and the thing still doesn't move. It just clicks.

It's pissing me off!!! I hate working on these.

Here's the pics.

I think you've mistaken piston for cylinder... and those screw heads are allen keys.

The screws I got taken care of.
They were star keys to unscrew them..

It's just not pulling the piston or what the white thing above the spring back.

Is it the motor? (I've fired about 400 shots and no problem. The motor, I don't know what brand it is. But the ROF on this before I fired was preety good for an 8.4v.
Is it the battery? I have 2 tenergy large batteries. 1 is charging, and 1 is connected into the gearbox, where I think it's probably under 50% charged..

I tried moving the gears and they do move, I used a flat head to move the gear up on the rear handle. where the trigger is.

Connect your motor outside the grip and pull the trigger? does the motor spin?

If not theres something wrong with the connector, Im gonna guess that your trigger post is broken

To unlock a mechbox, take a rod that will fit into the front nozzle and push the piston back while holding the anti-reversal latch back. My gearbox locked up because I didn't time the gears properly...

Timing is a myth. So long as the tappet plate actuation nub is at about 1-2 o'clock, the first time you pull the trigger the gears set themselves. Lock up is caused by:

- binding of gears (too tight, misaligned, foreign material, damage)
- binding of piston (same as above)
- bad motor (not strong enough to pull spring)
- weak or bad battery (not enough juice to give motor the power to pull spring)

I put the sector gear with nearly half the teeth at the end of the piston. Chewed up the back of my piston....

It's assumed that you won't do something like that. Or if you're experienced enough to open a gearbox you know that you shouldn't do that.

Otherwise the location isn't a science. It corrects itself.
