Common GBB Double Feed Causes

Hi,
I'm maintaining my TM Hi-capa and the most common problem I have is double-feeding.

I'm guessing it's because when the slide slides forward to chamber the next BB, it is moving too fast, and actually knocks the BB past the hopup chamber and into the barrel.

I've resolved this problem before by either tightening the hopup or washing the hopup so that absolutely no oil is left on it.

Either way, the solution is still very fragile and requires constant adjusting, and I'm wondering if there is another cause for double-feeding.

Thanks for your help.

Dig a bit more, I think there's something around here about the lips on the mag.

Is this with all your mags or just one? I recall that mag being a double stack top, meaning that the feedlips hold the next BB in place after the one above it gets stripped off the mag.

My point being, it could be something to do with your feedlips on your mag(s). Isn't something I've had to deal with per se, but I HAVE had it happen in my CA M24 sniper rifle where the mag lips are busted up. A few years ago I sorted out brass feedlip replacements, works great and for quite a while, but when one falls off and it happens to be on a side that the lips are really gone, then my rifle will load two BBs each time.

So, load up your HiCapa mag(s), then use a Qtip or something to press one BB out at a time. You might find that two come out or all stream out (hehe, KSC M11A1 is bad for that), or only one comes out (meaning gun problem, not mag problem.)

Thanks that's very insightful.
It actually does only happen to one of my mags.

The mag is suffering from some weird alignment problem. The plastic feedlip has exploded from normal usage a couple times in the past.

Thanks a lot for your help CDN_Stalker. It turns out it was the mag.
I bought a Shooter's Design Reinforced Feed Lip after my original TM lip broke, and the dimensions of the new lip are not quite right.

Do you know where I can get an original TM feed lip for my hi-capa? The only place I know of is Dentrinity, and they're out of stock.

Thanks again for your help

Awesome, glad to help (aka, be the winner). I don't own a Hicapa (I'm a KSC MK23 & G19 user) so I haven't a clue about parts or where to get.
