My AKM and Rusty (aka, yet another goddamn ANCorp AK thread)
So I've progressed some more on my AKM, and a LOT more on that Kraken AK that I wanted to build into something for CQB. Hell, I've done most of the work a long time ago, just haven't had a sunny morning off work to take pictures.
Some pictures do suck big time, I'm aware. Better ones some other time. Thought I'd go over everything, an overview of both. AKM Parts list - External TM AK-47 based King Arms AK-74 metal body King Arms AK-74 safely lever DTP metal rear sight block ICS re-enforced outer barrel ICS bolt carrier ICS 1000m rear sight Element ribbed top cover Element brick red pistolgrip ---Real steel parts: Romanian AKM stock Romanian buttplate Romanian Trap door Romanian Sling loop Polish upper handguard Polish gas pipe Polish lower handguard Romanian lower handguard retainer Romanian AKM muzzle brake East German front sight East German takedown lever Hungarian gas block Parts list - Internal Cyma Mechbox TM hopup SystemA hopup rubber 6.03mm tightbore Element M110 spring Element bearing spring guide Area1000 metal bushings External refinishing All airsoft metal parts stripped and blued Wood stripped and stained/clearcoated What needs to be done Takedown lever needs to be made more stiff Pistol grip needs to be dyed darker and made to have a less uniform finish PICS (Bipod just for show) Rusty (Iraqi survival rifle) Parts list - External Kraken clear AK-47 based Element AK-74 metal body ICS AK-74 safely lever ICS ribbed top cover King Arms metal front end King Arms pistolgrip Unknown steel AKM muzzle brake Unknown laminated AK-47 foregrips TM Krink front sight Cyma underfolding stock with folding hardware Parts list - Internal So far - stock internals, cut inner barrel External refinishing/work 1st -All metal parts stripped and aluminum blackened (except top cover and muzzle brake, those were blued) 2nd - All metal parts worn down 3rd - All metal parts corroded/rusted with saltwater 4th - All metal parts washed and polished 5th - Wood scratched, "engraved", and soaked in water a bit Outer barrel was shortened significantly, and the front sight and gasblock/pipe combo was replaced with a TM AK Beta spetsnaz front sight for a nice Krinked look. Metal body had fullstock tabs dremelled off, and modified extensively to take a Cyma underfolding stock (what a pain in the ass) What needs to be done Stock up down wobble needs to be cured (not a big problem) Open hole in rear of body needs metal plate installed (already have plate, just need to attach and refinish) PICS (Possible scare-shitless CQB setup ) Outdoor/Indoor Combo: A "cleaner" Outdoor/Indoor Combo (AK-103 and Original TM AK Alpha 97 limited edition Spetsnaz AK): All together (with trademark cat): Unfortunately I sold off two of my other AK's before taking pictures (Black Kraken AK-47, and Dboys AKS-74) I think that's it for now, better pics might come in a couple days, especially of the AKM. It's pics don't do justice what so ever. As always, thanks for lookin'. Cheers, Alex

But I now regret it, as I have a "dress up" project in mind for one. Maybe someday. Red tape was to solidify the handguard, it started to wobble after I soaked it.

Those are two of the best AK builds I've seen yet, VERY nice (even though I'm not much of an AK guy), great attention to detail and very authentic looking.
What is it with cats getting into pics anyways, always annoyed me in the past. |

'rusty' is by far the most accurate and 'real' airsoft AK I've seen. I'm a stickler for getting the 'feel' of milsim.. that is AWESOME. The wear on the gun makes it.

what do you have written in russian on the grip and those are some of the nicest AKs i have ever seen, and i am an AK hater. You make me want to get an AK. That being said, i think on your first rifle you should have a wood pistol grip if you can, that was it will look even better IMO.

Umm, I'm AK ignorant, but I think there should be a folding stock on it, right?
