Tacticool AKS74U (Purists need not post)

Well, I wanted something that went with my Iraq contractor kit, so I loosely based this gun around a few rifles that I saw in National Geographic documentaries.

First, the parts breakdown:
Cyma AKS74U with full metal body ($311)
Guarder SP120 FTK w/ a substituted Systema M120 ($110)
6.04TN inner barrel ($25)
VFC AKS74U Front hand guard kit ($34)
ICS AK/SVD Mount ($65)
P90 flash hider ($25)
Leapers scope and scope rings ($85)
Hours of filing, sanding, dremeling and chiseling (priceless)
Total: $655 (not bad I guess)

Eh its not that bad at all, fairly practical. Nowhere near as bad as a RAS or a tricked out milled AK-47.

Looks like a nice little bang stick you got there, congrats.

If you had a Kobra RDS, it'd be a perfect 10 in my books. Very awesome piece of kit.

If I'm not mistaken, the foregrips come with the pistolgrip already installed?

front grip makes it look like a Kbk wz. 1996 Mini-Beryl more than AKS 74U

I like it. But, as mentioned above, the scope and barrel length/front grip don't seem to jibe.

Nice job on putting it all together, though.

That's actually pretty cool and un-fugly. I'd go for an RDS, too, it's clearly a CQB weapon -- but I'd opt for a Western one, that doesn't look like a very Eastern European mod, more like a contractor thing. Maybe even a Holosight.

Also personally not a fan of the P90 flash hider. Barring the Krinkov flash hider I would have gone with something a KFH, or the Rebar Cutter (which is a similar style but more utilitarian).

Oddly enough, with a small RDS (Docter or whatnot), I'd totally hit that.
Great job, man.

Heh.. Not bad at all..

I'd suggest a side-mounted rail with a Kobra...

It's defiantly not as bad as I expected when I read the title.

That's correct, the front grip already included the attached pistol grip. I had to modify the entire mounting system on the VFC kit because the Cyma body had a completely different system. I also had to cut off and file down the rear sight as the scope mount wouldn’t fit on without it.

As for the scope, I would agree that it looks somewhat out of place but I can't live without my magnification. I used to always shoot with an x8 scope in my bow shooting days and I don't care to go back to unmagnified sights. Even if it is just a 6mm BB.

thats pretty cool. although, like mentioned above, a kobra sight would be much better, and i would probably take off the rails on the front hand guard, unless your putting something on them. they kinda look random.

but thats a sexy looking tactical AK.

Just bought one, just because. I don't like the idea of either sanding or filing, though- will get a rail shortly. Looking at that, you had to remove your iron sights?
