CIRAS Loadout
Hello all.
I'm starting to peice together another airsoft kit. A modern / multicam version, aside from my WWII Rifleman's stuff. In terms of packing, the WWII stuff has, besides ammo, tonnes of stuff, personal effects ect. What else is kept in a CIRAS besides Ammo / Tech Gear? For instance, what types of things, besides a map, would be kept in the Map Pouch? Is there a "packing" list of sorts I could use to see what I could start collecting?

What is your pouch setup for the CIRAS?

Well, so far, a bunch of M4 Ammo pouches, Map pouch, has 2 pockets, I think one is a radio pouch, and one dump pouch.
Again, forgive me, as I'm not really familiar with modern stuff, the ww2 stuff is simple... I'm looking basically to get a 'kit' together that represents the life, not so much just the fight, of a soldier.

Run with what you would for a 24 hour game.
I've got my 4 triple mag pouches, a general purpose for food, glowsticks, anything I may need. Small utility pouch for lighter and flashlight, knife, my vest has a built in hydrapack, and I used the pouches inside the vest for maps, recon wrap and toque. Anything that I'll use later on but isn't combat critical I keep in my rucksack. |

In all fairness I think you have pretty much everything you need. Id just grab a medic/utility pouch(es) depending on the extra amount of stuff you may want to carry, ie NVGs, extra bag of ammo, claymore?
Edit: oh...also, canteen pouch? or hydration pouch. Last edited by Goodl2ussian; December 8th, 2007 at 04:17.. |

Well, he wants to represent the 'life' of a soldier as opposed to just a 'fight', which means 3rd line gear, which he has none of.

3rd line gear?
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with that term... Care to elaborate?

Here are some ideas:
Magazines Frags Hydration Communications First Aid General Purpose for Maps and other stuff A place to store empty magazines (dump) The CIRAS has purpose built pouches for all of this stuff, there are plenty of replicas out there too. If you're concerned with a backpack (3rd line), I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than a 3 day assault pack.

I would definitely say:
Map or Admin pouch Mags Hydration First Aid Communiications just for the very basic stuff. A CIRAS, be it land or maritime, is very different from any WWII stuff. Aside from the fact that it holds hard plates AND soft armour, I think there is a heck of alot more real estate. Also, if you are used to playing with WWII gear that is very basic and utilizes a backpack for most things, a CIRAS may be a bit bulky for you. Here is the loadout that I am setting up... CIRAS Maritime: Admin pouch w/ map, pens, leatherman, and other slim tools that I carry Mags 4xM4 doubles (holds 8 total) General utility for extra BBs and whatever else needs a home Hydration 100oz bladder 40mms x6 Frag x2 Flashbang x2 (I have a gas charger that replicates a flashbang) Knife I also utilize a belt with PALS all around and subloads. I was told that SF operatives keep alot of very important and redundant things on their belt/subload in case they have to drop the armour in a tight situation. It's a little excessive for airsoft (Im sure youre not goona jump in water with your gear on), but I like the look... Belt/Subloads: First Aid Communiications Dump Pouch Pistol Pistol Mags x4 Silencer for pistol 2 Double M4 Mags (4 mags total) Hope this helps you out man! |

Your first line kit are the bare essentials that will see you through to fight another day. This includes your pistol, magazines for rifle and pistol, E&E kit, some water and sustainment food, and the like. Smoke grenade, knife, multi-tool, signaling device and FAK are probably good ideas too. Your second line kit is the rig that brings the immediate noise. It will consist of everything you require to complete a task at hand (unless you require specialized equipment, like breaching tools) and execute the fight without being overly cumbersome. Usually this will consist of some sort of chest rig or vest, holding ammo and munitions, a high-powered communication device, and greater quantities of other sustainment items like food and water. A blow-out kit and other mission tools, like GPS and NOD, should also be on this line. Your third line will consist of everything not immediately necessary for your survival (mission notwithstanding). Think of it as your treasure trove to sustain an indefinite fight. This includes even more ammo, usually loose rounds and loaded magazines, overnight kit, extra clothing items, advanced medical support (if you have that role), water and purification items, other communication devices, and other interesting things you may require during your mission but don't expect to immediately use.
