sig 552 flash hider

simple question.

Everywhere i look, the description clearly states that the sig 552 has a CCW 14mm threaded barrel. My manual says so, all the reviews say so...

But, I cant get mine off. It appears to have been glued on. Tried oil and lighter fluid (told that dissolves superglue).

any suggestions?

nailpolish remover? light acid? okay, the latter most likely not, but it's odd that yours is glued on. if holding the gun barrel up, you are twisting to left, right?

looking at the gun straight on, turning CCW. same direction as manual diagrams. Not that it turns in the other direction either. Trying nail polish remover now, ill give it some time to work and see what happens.

Just so that you are aware, there is also an o-ring on the flashhider thread, which I am not sure what the purpose of it is, but nail polish might damage it...

Did not think about his before, good thing there was a spare in the box when i bought it. It came like this, and is odd that its glued like this. Im trying not to damage the hider, but it requires an insane amount of force to make even an 1/8th of a turn.

it might be that the o-ring is caught in the thread, the thread as I recalled is not a full thread(continuous) thread, it had 2 flats on the thread(maybe be useful if you were to remove the flashhider outdoor and got dirt on it, as this will allow the thread to be chased and cleaned....but I can see the o-ring to jam itself in that...

Just a reminder...

Don't forget that the flash hider has a hex worm screw holding it on. If you have not removed it or loosened it, you have just striped away much of your thread.

I am sure that is not the case here I hope.

I know with my old M16VN the flash hider was attached permanently.

no set screw, first thing i looked for. The misaligned o ring sounds like it may be the winner, but there is seriously glue all over this thing. Was asked if it was a clone, and its a TM through and through.

Glue all over is an understatement. Ive manages to move the flash hider 2-3 mm lengthwise, and there was a lip of dried glue left behind, and white dried glue is visible through the rest. concentrations of the white seem to follow what possibly may be the threads. Nail polish is not penetrating this at all. Ill email mark at A&A and see if he knows anything about it.

got it off. Heated it with a small butane touch and turned it with a rubber coated screwdriver. Appears some form of locktite went into the threads all the way to the end. Noticed no o-ring like there should have been. odd, but its fixed.
