Vest/Chest Rig for use with MP5
Anyone know of a good Vest or Chest Rig that works well for carting around a bunch of MP5 full size mags? I was looking at a cross draw Tac Vest, but changed my mind, as it's set up for M4 Mags..
Any info would be great!! |

I think Eagle makes a couple. You should go give their website a look.

Generally a dual M4 mag pouch will accept 4 MP5 mags easily. Might be tight, still works great with 3 MP5 mags. So, my opinion (experienced through my CF 82 pattern webbing of my early days to my current chest rig), almost any system that will carry M4/M16 mags will easily take almost double that in MP5 mags.

Not much catered for MP5 mags unless you go the modular route.
I'm currently using a SORD MFF rig, with 2 of their triple mag pouches. Works pretty well for me. It was ~$75, but it was with a group order (they're from Australia).

I know it's not in your budget, but I use a Phantom Ciras /w mp5 triple mag pouch (also by phantom). works really well. the only gripe i have is that the phantom pouches don't have a tab to amke opening easier like the 204tactical ones (they have singles only)

as Stalker said, an M4 double mag pouch will hold two MP5 mags, and conveniently, two cinched-together MP5mgs.
SORD makes a neato MP5mag/pistolmag shingle combo. |

Actually, you could go for 82 pattern webbing. You can get dedicated smg pouches for about 6 dollars a pouch.

If I were you I would get that crossdraw vest that you like. In each of the 3 mag pouches you can fit 2 mp5 mag with a clamp on them. Which for me means that I spend less time reloading and having to swap mags with the vest less often. If you buy a UTG vest it sshould be in your price range as well.

Got one..
Hey Guys.. I did in the end pick up a vest.. It's OD, but I'm not totally sure I like it, so I will keep my eyes peeled. I really would prefer 82pat webbing, but it's crazy expensive out here.. Here is what I picked up:

I bought a vest from ASCA that was for my MP5 stuff and was pleased with it. I can't remember who made it and it was black, but they had OD as well.
It was very inexpensive. Russ

Just confirmed it the night before last. You can use a couple of BHI MOLLE SMG triple panels with the SORD MFF rig as the BHI SMG triple only takes up three PALS channels.

Look for the LAPD SWAT vest. It can carry about 12 mags and it's very comfy.
