Who makes the best CIRAS?
Hello Everyone, Me Again.
Me and a few buddies are interested in purchasing some CIRAS vests, we have read a bunch of reviews about the Milspex and Phantom versions, we just wanted to hear your opinions on who makes the best one in quality, fit, etc. (Milspex, Phantom, G&P). Your help is much appreciated! -Evo |

He only said who makes the best, not the best replica
Yeah I'd say Eagle as well!! But there is also the Non- Releasable version, which is less money. TAG also makes a releasable called the RBAV that is less expensive.

I like my Phantom, but I don't think it comes close to the quality of the real deal by Eagle.

Im happy with the phantom....but if I had an extra $700USD to drop on an Eagle CIRAS carrier(no pouches or plates), I would. They are teh sex.

Trust me Harley it breaks apart....
I like my Phantom, like Droc said for the ammount you save it is worth it. If you have the money for the Eagle then you can go which ever way you wish. But if you don't, I'd say your choice is not very diverse anymore.

Also, to say its worth it for the money you save is relative, that is all up to personal opinion. Many people are willing to pay a lot more for a little gain in quality and think its more than worth it, others dont want to spend a penny more than they have to and are willing to put up with lesser gear. |

Yes LUTNIT, its relative to say that its up to personal opinion to save a crap load of cash.
You missed my point bud, and that was IF he doesn't have the extra $700 to drop into the Eagle, his choice is GREATLY refined now isn't it? If he can't afford the Eagle, the Phantom is now his new best friend. Also he said it "SHOULD" and my response is it "DOES". I didn't say it was as easy as the Eagle, or harder or any different. I don't have an Eagle I can't tell you the exact differences in the two, but I can tell you that I can afford a Phantom but not an Eagle, and that the Phantom DOES break apart. Much easier when it is loaded... trust me...

Having owned both the gain in quality is far more than 'a little'. In my personal oppinion if you want a CIRAS but dont have the cash for the real deal and cant find a used one, get the Eagle plate carrier with cumberbun and some CIRAS shoulder pads. When its all full of pouches I've mistaken a few for a CIRAS. Better yet your getting Eagle material and quality, not a cheap asian knockoff with terrible pouches at around the same price. |
