What about if you were to manually pull back the slide with an empty magazine inserted? Will the slide lock back then?

Happened to my KSC G19 once, the slide release is made of sheet metal and the part that gets pushed up (sticks out horizontally in the magwell) by the mag follower was slightly bent upwards and wouldn't let the slide lock after the last shot.
I took the slide off (learn to do this if you don't already) and used some pliers to bend it down a little bit to cause the part that catches the slide to rise up more. Only needs a slight bit of bending to fix it, don't overdo it!!!! |

If you can rack the slide back manually and have it lock in to place when you have an empty magazine inserted, then there should be nothing wrong with your follower
