Expensive Shipping?

I have someone interested in my VSR-10 G-spec...im going to ship it with all of it, a rifle case and the original box,
I went to the post office today to get a quote on the shipping...he told me express post with insurance would run me around 120$..now i didn't have the rifle and stuff with me i gave him a rough estimate on the length, width and weight...now this seems a little steep to me.
has anyone else shipped out something around that size and weight with express post and gotten a price like that?

I shipped my GPEC to BC (I am in ontario). It had a scope/bipod anda 335mm suppressor on it, so i had to ship it in a new bigger, meaner box. IIRC it was about $50 to ship it. It weighed ~10pounds. Rifle case would range from $35-80 no prob. His estimate is about right. Shipping within the same province or to others really doesnt effect the price "that" much. Costs me roughly the same amount (maybe $10 more) to ship 30min from my place as it does to Alberta or so.

There's no chance in hell it costs $120 to ship ANY airsoft gun anywhere in Canada expresspost, even a full-metal G3 in a full-sized double rifle case. They only way it could be that high if it was overnight shipping.

Insurance is someting like 60 cents per $100 value. Packing tape is $3.50. Wrapping paper is about $5, and a sheet of bubble wrap is another $5. I've shipped 4 guns since November, and the most expensive was $55, including packing materials. $500 insurance, signature required, and Expresspost.

If he is sending two packages its somewhat reasonable. If i paid $50 to ship my VSR to BC, add another box of equal size, thats $100 right there. Im not sure if its different if you tape that shit together and send it as one... meh. I would say about $75-100 fully insured MAX.

Height of the box adds a lot to the price.

Don't bother getting a quote if you don't have the item in hand. They probably use the same estimator as the online version, which horribly inflates the prices. It shouldn't cost more than $40, insurance included, since the VSR is so light.

I've sent quite a few AEG's across Canada and they've all cost around $40-60 to ship Xpresspost with full insurance.

This person is trying to rip you off by the sounds of it.

most expensive i paid for a shipping fee was to BC, Xpress via Canadapost.

Gun was a M16 A2 Metal, with SP M203, 1 'nade, 1 Hicap, 1 8.4 2000 battery and a full bag of bb.

Cost me 70$ with signature and 1000$ ansurance.

120$ is a bit much... did you ask for next-day delivery?

That does seem high. I know Canada post has increased their prices on not just stamps, but packages as well, but there's no way the increase should be that high!

Yeah, Canada Post did increase their prices. It used to cost me $17 for a prepaid huge bubble wrap Xpresspost National envelope - now it costs $20.

But as I said before, package it up and bring it to them to get a quote. If they don't have the item in hand, the estimate will be off - alot.

I've shipped hundreds of items, guns and parts. Gear..whatever. He is bending you over and sticking it to you for 120 shipping for a gun. Fully insured I'd say you shouldn't pay more then 40 dollars. I've shipped some pretty large and heavy AEG packages all over the country and the most I've paid was under 30 ( that was Xpress post with an extra 800 in insurance). 120 is ridiculous.
