KJ Beretta Wont fire CO2 mags, propane okay.
So I picked up this beretta cheap with 4 mags, 3 green and 1 co2.
All mags were leaky, I've fixed the green mags but its getting cold outside so I have been working on the co2 one. Works fine on Green gas In short, the hammer drops and the mags pressure is too high. the regulator literally stops the hammer. The hammer rests between un cocked and half cocked position. So when I started working on this mag, the first co2 Cartridge just release straight through. I took out the regulator and dissembled it. it contains no o-rings and it appears that there are no grooves or space to hold them. the end is a red-ish orange very tough rubber, maybe just plastic. It just seems like a terrible design as is. I lubed the shit out of it and then I had a slow leak. The gun fired as it should. I did not have it loaded or test fps, just dry fired it until it was empty. I have taken a regulator out of one of my green mags, a socom sof m9a1 mag. I lubed and it fit into this unkown co2 mag just fine. I tested the regulator before I put in the co2 and it moves fine so it is not stuck or bottoming out. Put in the co2 and the seals are holding, no leaks. Here Is where I'm stuck. The pressure is too strong for the hammer. I know that the mag will release co2 because I used a hammer and chisel to manual fire the mag (out of the gun.) I have tried releasing pressure by unsrewing the co2 and putting it back in. The hammer only drops fully if there is just a small amount of co2, not even close enough to fire a shot. Thoughts? While writing this Im wondering if A stronger hammer spring would solve the issue? Or is the KJ just not meant to fire CO2? |

What's the color of the nozzle on your gun? If its red, its designed for CO2, otherwise its not. The CO2 ready version also has a stronger hammer spring to open the higher pressure valves on CO2 mags.

ya its blue.
So would i have to replace both the spring and the nozzle? or just the spring? Is it even worth getting the new spring? |

The blue nozzle will probably be fine for a while on CO2. It will definitely break faster on CO2, but whenever it does, replace it for a red one and you'll be good. The nozzle is just an expansion chamber for the gas expelled from the magazine, you will still need a stronger hammer spring to be able to use the CO2 magazines.
You can order direct from KJW at sales@kjworks.com.tw. If you are about to order the spring from them, you might as well order the red chamber at the same time. It might also be a good idea to order a stronger recoil spring too to help absorb the CO2 blow back shock. Also note that optimizing a gun for CO2 will decrease performances on propane/green gas. The stronger hammer spring will release more propane, which will reduce efficiency. Also, the gun will cycle slower on propane due to the stronger recoil spring.
