CBSA GBBR and GBBP airsoft gas

Hi ASC, I was just wondering what gas the CBSA uses to test their guns. Because depending on the gas I can know what gun is going the be able to cross over. I know I should be purchasing from a Canadian retailer, however the pistol I want is unavailable in Canada.

Dont buy pistols from outside of Canada, they will be confiscated. You can chance it and see if it slips through, but generally speaking, do not buy pistols outside of Canada.

As well, CBSA...testing? Lol.

If the website doesn't say 366 fps, or the package doesn't include documentation saying it shoots at over 366 fps its gone.

First off, what pistol? I can almost guarantee that you're not looking hard enough. If it's true, Trigger Airsoft allows for special orders. It is worth shooting them an email.

Secondly, I've bought a few GBB guns from the states. As long as they state the FPS and it's over 366 they will let them in. Some websites even adjust and chrono the guns so they become legal for crossing. Mine were never tested, but they were opened.

Ok this is what I don't understand. Why does EVERYONE say that guns cannot be imported? 366FPS to 500FPS and it can be imported. I've seen numerous people who successfully imported a gun within those restrictions. And they do test the guns FPS if there is no documentation. Again, I have proof from other people. Now do you know what gasses they use or no?

In theory, any gun advertised as shooting 366FPS or higher with a .20g BB should make it across the border. A lot of the times, this doesn't matter. The CBSA could just decide to not allow an airsoft gun because they don't feel like it that day. Unless you want to spend a lot of money on a shipping broker/lawyer, you're essentially SOL.

As someone who works for a retailer, we have had experience from bringing guns in from the states from distributors, and unfortunately there's been a load of "cease and desist" orders from the CBSA to specific american retailers and wholesalers. This is why Evike no longer offers the "Canadian border approval package", and why we can't get airsoft guns from Jag Precision. They both fell victim to this.

Also, from my experience, CBSA don't chrono guns themselves. More often than not, they google the gun from the manufactures website (if they even have one), read the velocity on the website, and deny or approve based on that alone.

I've only had experience ordering rifles from outside of Canada (and only Hong Kong, for that matter), and I haven't personally had issues. I have on the other hand, heard only horror stories from people who attempt to order KWA handguns, Tokyo Marui rifles, and the like.

Now do you know what gasses they use or no?

The reason why he didn't tell you what type of gas they use, is because they don't use any at all.

RIFLES can be imported if they are between 366fps and some arbitrary upper limit (lets say 500fps). Handguns on the other hand are treated completely different. I would highly recommend NOT ordering a PISTOL outside of Canada. Go nuts on the rifles, I have ordered many, as long as they say on the website that its over 366 FPS and I ask them to include this documentation.

And yes..CBSA doesn't test guns, do you really think they just have propane cans with adapters and chronies and .2 gram bb's hanging around to test? Think about that for a bit. They might and probably do finger fuck the shit out of your new shinny and take some selfies, but they don't do any testing. RCMP might, but if your gun is at that stage its basically gone.

They generally don't DO testing.
Think of how many airsoft guns would have to be tested by how many different CBSA agents. They just don't have time.
So unless it's selected for testing, which takes months by the way, they go by manufacturer specification.

Tokyo Marui says the Tokyo Marui 1911 shoots 280fps on a .20, so they'll deny it entry.
Gas is just semantics to them.
