M14 Firing problem
About two weeks ago I was playing an indoor airsoft game when someone ran into me at full speed causing both our guns to collide hard. Shortly after this I managed to bang my gun very hard at a fast speed (gun was not in my hands but hanging from my new strap like an idiot.) After a few minutes my gun stopped firing all together, but I managed to get it to work again by going full auto (this never happened until the two gun collisions) About a week following that, my gun would stop firing altogether again (no sound at all when pulling trigger) until I went full auto again.
The main problem is that my gun no longer shoots straight. Before, I was able to shoot the same spot every single time I tried from a rested position, but now it seems as though the shots are landing randomly given the same conditions, landing randomly too far to the right, left, too high or too low with no consistency. Any ideas? |

check wires, motor connections and fuse (if you have a fuse). The inconsistency may be for the power being delivered inconsistently. I could be also the contacts of the trigger. Just check any electric part :P at the gun.
But mostly check the selector plate and wiring to it. Last edited by FULLMETAL; August 14th, 2014 at 15:22.. |

Will check that out. Just found out though that the hop up dial (which used to be capped at a high and low point) is now able to be turned without a stopping point. Does this mean the hop up is loose?

it depends on the model of hop up... but if the wheel is really loose (turns back to a position itself or doesn't even hold a position) it's provably broken. A broken hop up can be a reason for erratic shots. But you are talking about two different problems here. One electrical (im quite sure is the selector plate) and the other is the hop up.

switching to full auto to get it working again can be an issue with the way you're shooting in semi. If you let go of the trigger before it finishes shooting, basically you stop the motor pulling in themiddle of the cycle, it's then not strong enough to resume where it stopped unless you switch to full auto. It's a weird electrical thing in the way the motor draws power between the 2 methods of shooting, or it could be that the trigger block is stuck somehow and cycling the gun in full auto gets it unstuck. It's called semi auto lock. Try not short pulling the trigger, pull it firmly and quickly all the way back every shot and wait for the gun to finish shooting until you let go and pull again.
IF that issue goes away then you know it's semi auto lock. Upgrading can reduce the likelihood of it happening but even the fastest shooting guns with the ibggest batteries and most torquey motors can still have it happen. It's just the window is much shorter.
