M4 Problem

To Clarify things:
This mod was in no way intended for field play. Just me screwing around, new r-hop installation, testing bb weights, spare time dicking around. FPS limits are always respected wherever I go. The intended reason for this post is to find out why my motor is disintegrating itself lol

Hi there,
Today I was shooting around testing different weight bbs when all of a sudden my gun stopped shooting. At first I thought it was the battery but I put a freshly charged one in and shot a few times then nothing. I'm currently using 11.1 lipos (1400mah, 20C), merf3.2, Lonex-A2 motor, Modify M150s spring, stock G&G torque-up gears, Prometheus red piston, G&G stock piston head (commando max top tech gun, nice compression), angle of engagement corrected, sorbo pad in, shooting .20s at around 500fps, last ROF test gave me 22rps (used to be around 27rps). Do you think Active Breaking from the Mosfet is killing my motor??? I'm attaching a few pictures of what it looked like when I pulled it out of the pistol grip. Whenever the gun stopped shooting I looked at the mosfet and it acted as if I had unplugged the motor and entered into configuration mode. I pulled all the wires off, then back together and shot a few rounds then same thing happened, it entered configuration mode (blinking led). I'm not sure what to do here....any input would be very much appreciated. PLEASE HELP!! Thank you

-Rene

Id say its a combo of pulling the 500fps spring and the AB.
You should be good if you clean it up on the inside (cant recall the name of the parts but its that rod that runs through the middle of the motor you can see the botom of it if you look in the bottom of the motor. Right now itll look black it should lool copper color (most motors anyhow)

lonex motor can pull that all day long. I'd say it's the AB more than the spring weight you're trying to pull, especially if you shoot semi a lot. I've disabled AB on my cheetahs because a CA motor died prematurely.. it died in a very sad wisp of smoke and burning smell.

That's a lot of dusting... check your motor brushes and com it could be your brushes are worn and need replacing as well. Cleaning the motor com will also help.

I'm surprised you were able to achieve this with a 20C battery. I would have liked to hear a video of what your shimming and bevel-to-pinion mesh sounds like. Something doesn't gel here.

You're right lurkingknight, this motor can pull m150 springs and above with no issues. I only gamed this motor once (using m120 spring), went to the game on Waterdown scrap yard. Did a lot of semi-shooting because of feeding problems on full auto. I had tested the motor before I put it in the gun, I noticed that it did get a bit hot but thought it was normal. I spoke to Stealth from airsoftstore.ca and he also mentioned the brushes might be worn out, so we'll replace the brushes. I just want to get to the root cause of the problem, this motors are not cheap and I don't want it to die on me. I also tried using numchuck 9.6v batteries and get the same problem.

MaciekA, I did the shimming myself, took me a good 4 hours to get it to a point where I thought was really quiet, so much so that all my untrained ear can hear is the pop sound of the piston head hitting the cylinder head. I will record a video of it sometime today and post it. I also kinda "broke into" my piston grip to try and get at the motor, one of the screws stripped (shitty work tools) so I had to pretty much rip the grip plate off. Getting temporary clear replacement on there to test things out.

I was also thinking that I may be starving the motor for power by using the 1400mah 20C 11.1v Lipo. Could this be a result of that????

Dude why and how the fuck were you able to game a 500fps AEG?? Thats fucking soldier of fortune for you - pieces of shit.

Field limits are 400fps at any normal field unless you're certified as a gameable sniper.

That dust inside your grip and motor looks like metal shavings so something was shredded or grinded up.

Have you gone into your mechbox yet?

Yeah, rabbit. This was not intended for field game, as I said on the first post, I was doing some bb testing, also recently installed r-hop and was just screwing around to see what result I got. I always abide to field FPS limits, and they are always achieved with a quick spring change. I have never played at Soldier Of Fortune specifically for the reasons you have described, I have no intentions of hurting someone or being hurt by someone else myself.

Btw I personally Chrono'ed Rene's gun when he first came to Hill437 and it was down around 300 FPS on a .28 for the record.

Just as he promised.

Don't get me wrong, im not shitting on your personally, your original post just said that it was being used in your current setup and I know you gamed at SOF when I talked to you - but that spring can do a ton of damage to a gun thats not geared for it - You could always bring it by my place and I can take a look at it.

I have work to do on Joey's gun this weekend before Tresses field on Sunday anyways so i'll have it all layed out.

Try swapping brushes from another motor and run it again.

I know, this post didn't turn out as intended at all....I'm backing out of Sunday's game until I figure this out. The gun itself came is one of those G&G Top Techs so it's already upgraded out of the box, I just did a few extra modifications to it but always downgraded the spring whenever taking it out for games. I just started having problems with this new motor I threw in.

I did mention I would go to a game to SOF when I last talked to you back in January but never actually went there. Been going to Warsoft in Oshweken from time to time.

Thanks for the offer though, I've always wondered what yours and Joey's set up looks like, and maybe we can get together sometime at a game.

I do have the stock motor that came with the gun originally, it's a High Torque G&G motor, we'll see how that turns out. In the mean time I'm also looking for a new hand grip, one of the screws was stripped and had to rip the damn thing apart (you can see in the pictures). Thanks for your help!

Your motor is dead.

Even with new brushes, it will tear through like butter.
Your com is heavily damaged, you would need to take it appart and put it on a lathe to recover it, if there is still enough contact left and if they did not move/melt from overheat.
