Socom Gear Lancer and Troy midcaps
I looked around and I haven't been able to find much about these other than the prototype pictures and the adds Socom Gear has done. They look like a great alternative to the awesome albeit pricy pmags, but who know they could always turn out to be garbage. They are OEM by madbull so I expect decent quality.
I think they do a great job of replicating a great magazine and I can only hope to get my hands on them soon. I would love to hear any impressions you guys have of these. Sorry if a thread for these exist already, I checked and couldn't find any with search terms I used. |

I want to know if those fake bullets look like shiny plastic gold shit like they do in EMags.

I just had my hands on them. They are really nice. Very solid and the bullets are a bit shiny. The nylon fiber body and very solid with no flex. They are a bit tight in Madbull's bodies and very tight in Dboys. G&P fitment are good. Didn't test with other bodies. They have RS trade marks from Lanser Systems and there's grippy texture all over the place. So you won't need anti skid tape or anything to have a good grip on them.

How does it feel compared to the PTS PMags.
Are they similar in feel to the Transparent PMags (TMags)?? |

The real PTS mags are made from a polymer and these are from a nylon fiber material. The PTS do feel a bit better and more solid, but for a nylon fiber material, these are pretty solid. Only long term testing can confirm if they measure up to the PTS mags. They feel a bit different but I will say that both feel good in the hands. I did fondle these mags for a few minutes.

They're quite well made. Neat fit/finish, nice grippy dots/sections.
The "bullets" are about as good as any...the plastic is textured. In stock at airsoftparts.ca. So far do they fit in this gun or another...pretty hard to say since everyone makes their receivers a bit differently. Better off being a bit tight and feeding well vs. sloppy loose and misfeeding. |

I noticed that airsoft parts already has quite a few boxes in stock. I'm ready to jump on them and buy two boxes of the L5's but I would like to know how well they fit and feed in a King Arms receiver before I do so. If anyone has any feed back that would be great, if not I guess I will have to be the guinea pig.
Update: I will have a box of the Troy mags to test within a week or so. I will do a proper review once I get hands on with them. Last edited by OM3GA; December 29th, 2012 at 05:11.. |
