Cheap MP5k
Hey
Has anyone used the galaxy mp5k pdw? Any thoughts? I'm looking for a really cheap "winter gun" that won't be such a big deal if it breaks. I am NOT asking where to get one, i just want to know of anyone has one as a cheap disposa-gun? FYI i do have a "real" airsoft gun, a CA m4, so it is just intended as a backup/winter gun. Really can't afford anything over 150 for a backup right now. Thanks |

Aftermath Kraken is my choice for beater/loaner gun. V3 gearbox is also slightly more hardy to the cold than the V2. For best results (and a bit of an extreme OCD thing) you could fillet the corners to spread any stress loading to the shell but it could end badly if you don't know what you're doing.

MP5Ks use V3 gear boxes, but I wouldn't trust the plastic on the Galaxies, my TM MP5K PDW did endure a winter game at -10 degrees last year though, just not the battery so be sure to get LiPos (I recommend the 7.4V LiPos from Hobby King).

MP5s uses a V2 (exactly the same as M4s) gearbox.

Nup. the Mp5K was designed with a v3. I wish all Mp5's accomodated a v3 like that. I'd feel better about buying one.

I own a galaxy mp5k. The gun shoots suprisingly good for the price. Two big reasons why this is NOT a good winter choice. #1 being the batteries you are limited too, probably die in the safe zone before you even get out on the field. #2 The plastic will break right away its quite cheap.
