KA M4A1 Gearbox Stuck
Hey,
My King Arms' gearbox is stuck in the lower receiver and can't be taken out. The fire selector also cannot be moved, and that seems to be the problem. I've tried a few ways to un-stuck it to no avail. Any thoughts? p.s. I'll be here in the GTA till next Monday.

Are all the body pins out? Is the fire selector on semi? Is the stock off?

Have you tried using a rubber mallet to gently tap the upper rear of the mechbox (towards the front) and the lower corner (where the motor goes in - upwards)?
The middle pin should be removed and the fire selector switch should be in between the Safe and Semi firing modes to make it easier to come out. |

Are you sure the issue isn't the bolt catch lever?

Also, don't forget the silver pin above the trigger... Forgot about that one when I last opened mine, and was like "wtf?" :P

Bolt-catch lever has been taken out. The rear body pin is also out, well, as "out" as it can be since it is held onto the body via a buttefly shaped wire to prevent losing it.

Can you set it back in place properly (pressing down on the rear upper part of the mechbox)??
If yes, they you just have to try harder. If not, might want to bring it to a gun doc... there are some things that can't be solved over forums. |

You've taken off the stock/stock bolt and grip right?

I doubt this is your issue though, considering what you said with the selector switch; Maybe something stuck on the selector plate? |

Yep
Yes I can set it back in place, but not properly. Can't move the fire selector switch more than halfway to semi

I think at this point you might have to break something to get it out...
You have two choices: Get it to a gun doc. He might not be able to remove the mechbox without damaging the selector plate or disk, but both can be replaced. Try to force it your self. Worst that could happen is you break the above (if you don't act stupid). If it was me, I would force the selector to turn. Inside the body is a metal or plastic disc that interfaces with the selector plate. Either the disk or the plate will dent/break. Then again, it might be a stupid/simple issue. It's really hard to diagnose with only text. |

Problem solved crooked hex screw that was protruding from the mechbox. It took me 10 mins to gently tap out the gearbox with a flat-head and a wrench.
Side note the selector plate and disk is fine, I'm gentle with the ladies Turns on the screw is bent and the head is pretty stripped (Someone wasn't being gentle) waiting for the customers next choice, pay me to go to Brafasco, Jerry rig a screw that fits or give it back to him as is with the screw removed. |
