Angry APS/Hakkotsu M40A3 Issues. Huge WTF.

Now before you say "ANOTHER kid wants to be a sniper", I will say that I picked it up for the luls and that I already have a semi-good AEG. And I paid $250 for it, tax included. That's about the same as $199 + taxes (and/or customs) + shipping.

So far, from what I've seen, there have been nothing but essentially good reviews about this gun.

After seeing it at store, I asked to try it out, and blank fired it about 10 times. Nothing was wrong, so then I proceeded to haggle a bit and then paid my $250 and left happily.

At home, I reassembled it (the main body and stock are separate).

From what I've read, these things need modest to massive upgrading to effective be gamed, but my issues don't even start there.

My issues start from the fact that after cocking the bolt and putting it back to closed position, it often fires by itself.

Now, forget "just" firing by itself, this thing doesn't even let me put the bolt back into closed position and it basically "launches" itself back into closed position.

Has anyone else had this problem, or did I get a lemon, or is it even fixable?

Is it possible for me to just replace the internals with a TM VSR or JG BAR ones?

Your sear is worn out or broken already....

BTW: You know what APS means right?

Well its either your sear or the piston is cracked into two pieces.

The piston's fine, and the culprit is indeed the sear. After looking at a TM VSR10 set, I looked back at the one in this one and I think that the one piece sear design is kind of dumb.

The parts look like they are compatible with TM, so should I get an upgrade sear....or should I get a whole trigger set?

I have no idea what APS means...besides the brand name.

ALSO. A piece which looks like it attaches to the this part http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/action-ar...ui-vsr-10.html (the part besides the 1st and 2nd sear) and kind of looks like a blockey mushroom fell out of my gun. I have an idea where it goes, but no real clue. The gun seems to work (when I say work, I mean the bolt functions), but I have a feeling that it is an important piece.
Any idea what the function of this piece is and where it goes?

APS stands for A Piece of Sh!t..... (Unfortunatly...)

You're not the first member to have issues with those guns out of the box.... most ppl jsut stay away from the brand or return the gun, instead of spending money and time to fix them!...

Well, to be fair, apart from the part that fell out and the trigger issue, I find that this gun is alright. And that the mag looks quite cool.

And don't most snipers have to be upgraded anyways....I've seen TM VSR10s with literally EVERY part upgraded minus the body.

To re-iterate on my second question...

What does this do/is it important? The gun seems to work just as well without it, but I have a feeling it's some super important piece.

Looks like a pin of some sort... usually with a spring to hold pressure on somthing.

And if you want to change the sears, upgrade to a Zero-trigger or V-Trigger (with the appropriate piston). It will be forever and you will gain a LOT of reliability.

From what I got, you need the TM L96 version of the piston and trigger unit, but do some more research, I did not confirm yet (I am looking at buying one for myselft too).

Thanks for the advice on the Zero/V-Trigger units.

I went and googled them, and then I see one from Laylax for TM VSR-10 and the price tag is $254. That's more than I paid for the gun! =.= I guess it's true that they say "You pay for what you get"...

I don't know about whether the trigger unit is the L96 or the VSR style, but if I had to guess, I would guess the VSR because the shape of the 1st sear unit and the one piece found in the APS/Hakkotsu one is the same shape

I guess VSR could also mean 'Very Shitty Rifle' too, huh? :P.

APS is a great system, very rugged. Just takes a lot of troubleshooting to get it shooting just right. Anyway, APS is more or less an internals system to refer to at this point as actual APS-2 rifles are pretty much non-existant nowadays. Lots of aftermarket support however!

Anyway, where did that part fall out from?

I saw something about zero triggers for APS system, but had no idea, and still just as clueless now.

That's the thing. I just cocked it back, then forward and that part had fallen out. I have no idea where that part actually came from....

So did you do an upgrades? From what i read online, the only things that you can change in this gun is the spring and the spring guide. Other parts are not d irect fit and will require heavy modification making it not worth it at the moment. I suggest you contact hakkotsu directy, they were very helpful with my m40a3. They also said that upgrade parts should be available shortly.

Forget the name.

The gun DOES NOT use APS system (made by Maruzen)
OR VSR system (made by Tokyo)

It uses the new TM L96 AWS system (based on VSR10, but shorter piston and cylinder).
PDI makes the zero trigger kit... not sure about anyone else.

http://www.x-fire.org/etop/tm_l96.html

Also, that pin looks to be the lock for the safety lever or bolt rotation.

Wait, does that mean that the cylinder and piston are also TM L96 compatible or is it something else now?

So is there any parts that you recommend to change? Besides that japanese site, is there another site that has parts?
