trigger issue version 2

Hi Before opening the gearbox , i wanted to know what to look for. The issue is with the trigger. in order to fire, the trigger has to be pulled ridiculously hard. To clarify the trigger feels normal, travel feels correct, it stops at the back and if you really bear down then the gun will fire in either semi or full. There is no funny noises or smells, changing batteries makes no difference and the problem seems to be getting worse.

What kind of battery are you using and why?

You'll need to open the mechbox, remove the trigger assembly from the mechbox, and clean up the two prongs in front of your trigger, as well as the copper block on the follower that mates with them.

Preventative measures include, but are not limited to;
-using a lower voltage battery such as an 8.4v NiMH or 7.4v LiPo.
-Installing a simple MOSFET switch

I'm using a 8.4 1500 mah firefoxNi-Mh ,and 2 different 8.4 1100 NiMh batteries as to why... I blew up the previous gearbox with a 9.6 Ni-Hm and a high speed motor, This was a drop in gearbox and has less than 1000 bb's threw it. So after i open the gearbox and undo the lever that i suspect provides safe mode, i lift out the trigger- can you walk me threw the rest?

You can leave the cutoff lever in place. When the box is open, look for a small screw that holds the trigger mech in place. Remove the sector gear so that you have a little room. Then remove that small screw and the trigger. Then you carefully pull out the trigger mech and the wiring. They are notoriously low quality, even the "high" quality ones, LOL. You can try to clean the contact and then adjust their orientation so that the single block splits them well. But if you continue having difficulties, just get a whole new mechanism.

Either your trigger block is loose, IE the little screw mentioned is stripped or just tighten it. Dirty or bent contacts, clean them and bend them in a bit so that the block engages both contacts evenly, and at the front of the contacts.

Or the block is worn down, the block is the big piece of copper on the plastic trigger piece that moves forward to engage the 2 contacts. Replace it if it looks worn or melted.

I am familiar with the box he is referring to. It is a brand new gearbox that he just bought. There is no reason for worn or burnt contacts so early, but it does happen. The cheap crappy things that they are. Especially, he is only using an 8.4v mini on it. That mech should last for 50000 cycles, not 1000.

Thanks guys I see how it works i think, The trigger moves a copper wedge forward and it hits two copper prongs pushing them apart slightly and completing the circuit. The copper prongs have a tiny, tiny arc mark on them and the three chunks of copper look oily. I'm thinking of spraying them with contact cleaner. Should the copper prongs be strait there entire length and just flared out at the end? Because the "close" one has a little bend in the middle.

contact cleaner is good. move the two prongs around until you get a nice hourglass shape.

wow that absolutely fixed the trigger problem thanks All. Shot a magazine and a half threw it and then it came to a screeching halt. So after a little cry i'm going to pull her apart again. sigh

lol.. I just have bad luck with 1 gun. I know guys who have broken just about every gun they have, some to the point beyond repair.

lol... and the gearset I order for said troublesome, cursed gun requires a special narrow halfrack piston. The doroma continues.

It's almost funny, but at least I have a bin of spare parts growing. Now to wait another 2 weeks for the proper piston. :P
