VFC Robinson Armament XCR
just got this today from ASG.
over all , the material of the body is very decent. seems to be a machined pot metal. but still pretty damn well put together for airsoft standards. i like the hop up and how the gun could easily be taken apart . one pin and the entire upper slide forward and out of the lower receiver. one of the best trades ive seen in an AS magpul trigger guard install. trigger guard is not AS M4 standards, i have to trim a mil off of each side. but from measuring, the trigger guard should fit a real steel unit perfectly. troy battle sights on . but these are the M4 standard heights. i need to get some low pros. thinking troy micros.... i dont have the privilege to post on the show case sub forum or i wouldve post this there. maybe we could make this THE XCR thread. i pulled a search and i dont think there is one. |

Does the battery go in a PEQ? Or sit above the mech box?

The XCR is made of CNCed aluminum. It's super light for a full metal gun. Battery options include AK style in the body, buffer tube if you get the Madbull kit our peq box. The Echo 1 XCR is identical to the Vfc version. Echo 1 included a lipo and a peq box.

The gun looks so nice, i really want to get one so bad, once you play a few games ( or if you already did ) you should post up how it feels and how it plays,
i was wondering about the battery to i know it comes with a PEQ box and every site says to use a lipo so does it comes lipo ready per say ? or can you use still use a 9.6v or any NIHM battery's ?

Does that air nozzle look really long to anyone else? Or am I crazy?

The gun feels very maneuverable. Very light. Not as solid as some other vfc guns IMO. There is noticeably more play than their scar and PDW but still very solid compare to 80% of other guns out there. Upper is CNCed but the grade of alloy they use feels soft. And I've seen picture of trigger guard taps breaking on vfc's face book page so u need to take extreme care when installing a after market trigger guard. The grip feels really nice. Almost real gun like slimness. Im going for low power high Rof set up .It's now on 90 spring and 11v lipo with dean connectors which makes stuffing the battery in the upper receiver easier than tamya type connectors. |

I don't like how it has a 3 part mechbox. Just seems like a bad idea to me.

I was scaptical about the idea but once i open this up .I don't see how it could break . Most v2 breaks at the top but this had steel reinforcement to hold the upper split part in place so I can't see how that area would crack under normal use with sub 400fps spring. the gears seems to be made of high quality material. if the housing does break. It should be much easier and cheaper to just replace the top half of the mechbox.

Be careful of using 11.1 V lipos. my XCR failed because the contact burned out. I was able to salvage one from a V2 trigger contact. I dripped solder all over the contact to thicken it up. After a whole season of playing (Mar 2011 - Now) at 11.1V Lipo, that was the only thing that went wrong. I do like that the VFC version includes the different barrel lengths. And yes, the nozzle is proprietary.
