Airsoft Innovations Propane Adapter

Hey everybody,

So I tried filling a mag with my new AI Propane adapter from the local airsoft shop today:

I bought 2 Coleman propane cylinders (both passed the probe test). Next, I put 2 drops of AI silicone oil into a tank and proceeded to fill my 2 spare mags in the upside down position. I only filled the mags for a second or two since I only have the mags and am still waiting for my KWA m1911mkiv GBB to arrive. I figured I might as well test em and give them a shot of oiled gas for storage until I can use em. The mags didn't spew or anything (they shouldn't, right?).

HOWEVER, the AI propane adapter continued to leak propane out after I disengaging it from the mags. I tried filling out the other propane cylinder and the same thing happened. At first, I though the adapter was sticking, and still engaging the cylinder valve - but then I saw the adapter's nozzle was all the way up and not depressed.

So my next guess was that maybe some released propane gas was still trapped in that air space between the cylinder and the adapter. When I unscrewed the adapter, I could hear a little excess gas popping out and escaping.

Is this normal? Or did I strike out and got a bunk adapter? :banghead:

I'm on the verge of buying one of these adapters too, so I'd hate to see this question slide by without getting an answer. Inquiring minds need to know.

Never happened to me, try contacting Airsoft-Innovation.

if propane is still leaking.. it's the tank valve not the adapter.. remove the adapter and see if the tank is still leaking.

Nope, both tanks are fine. No leaks, odors, nor hissing sounds. I also did mention before that the gas was still coming out of the adapter when used on either tank.

I will try contacting Airsoft Innovations tomorrow and the store I bought it from to see if they can help.

Right now, I don't believe the valves on the tanks are leaking. It seems like there excess gas trapped in the space between tank and adapter. And the adapter is still venting it out after I disengage it from the mag. Nothing on or inside the adapter appears to be damaged. I still don't know what's wrong with it. Why meee?!!!

At least I didn't get bad mags. No signs on leaking so far. Haven't got the GBB to test em yet though. *fingers crossed*

Does the tank probe stick in the orings when you do your test? If you poke the tank probe into the tank the the orings shouldn't be sticking onto the probe.

PROBLEM SOLVED! I got a lemon. Optix at the store was very helpful, thank you.

To Basic Wedge: don't hesitate to get it. It's good and works like it should. I just got unlucky with the nature of manufacturing. The plastic is very hard and strong! It's better than a metal nozzle in that it is less likely to damage your mag valves. The only way I see you could break in normal use is if you have butter fingers and drop the propane cylinder onto the ground, head first on the nozzle.
