upgraded parts but still shooting way below

TM M16 a2

upgrades:
1 ea. Deep Fire Metal Nozzle - M4/SR16/M16A2
1 ea. Modify S100 AEG Upgrade Spring
1 ea. Mad Bull 6.03mm Tightbore Barrel - 509mm
1 ea. Action Bearing Spring Guide - V2

chronoing at 280 fps ...

I swapped out the tight bore barrel with the stock barrel and no change

should I just get a better spring?

Ive also gone through the hop up, everything seems to be in order...

should I maybe put some teflon tape around the guarder?

does the nozzle mate fully to the hop rubber?... hows the compression seal of the cyl head, cyl and piston head? ...

those suggestions make sense, the cyl head and piston did seem a little bit off...

I hate going into the gearbox.... wish I had a split gearbox... thanks guys

the spring is in the right way though

Well there's a couple different point in which airseal problems arise... Nozzle-hopup rubber, and a cylinder airseal problem which is most likely piston-cylinder, but could be cylinder-cylinder head.

Have you tested your cylinder compression? There's info on the forums here that tell you how to test it if you don't know. If that's fine then it's a nozzle-hopup rubber issue.

wow, lol

ok so I just watched the cyl head compression test video and its gotta be that...

so many little things to know that make such a huge difference man... lol

also I was thinking... Ive heard that TM gearbox case/shell have a tendency to break/crack and that I should look into replacing it... I also have a UTG mp5 that I never use, its a ver2 gearbox... do you think the UTG gearbox case is stronger than the TM?

Wow way to delete my posts ASC, came to erase my double post and both are gone. UTG gearbox will not be any better IMO. Use the TM till it breaks. And no you do not wish you had a split mech. They are the gayest things I have ever worked on.

Yup, probably compression/airseal problems.

My bet is on the nozzle, put the stock one back in there and test.

Ive handled his gun myself, that metal deep fire nozzle looked strange and actually short.

He also has a guarder clear on the madbull tightbore, which in a previous post i made it was suggested not to be using guarder clear because of the smaller circumfrence barrel, however theres no explination for this much air seal loss at 280fps.

I dont trust that deep fire nozzle, my suggestion is to go with one of the poly carbs with an oring. I believe modify makes one - heck i'd even slip the stock one back in there.

The_Silencer and I tested his piston and it has fantastic compression by the way.

I think Reckless nailed it when he mentioned the nozzle mating witht he hopup rubber.

Edit: I just read you have an s100, i thought it was an s110, you'll probably get around 350fps when all is said and done.

unless there is something wrong with the stock nozzle (ei worn, broken, or leaking heavily on the cyl head) .. and your still using the stock hop chamber... the stock nozzle is usually the best choice. if a change 'must' be made... Prometheus and modify are generally my 2 choices... I've tried other brands and I seem to always get the short one .. generally like .5mm or less.. but enough to piss me off and need tweaking

on a side note.. I've never experienced the issue with the madbull and gaurder clear rubber.... but I always teflon tape my rubbers... including a little bit on the clip slots if needed to hold it firm... if it is leaking or a problem... so far so good it's been a consistant leak and hasn't given me an issue on any of my builds with that combo ...

Hop up units and nozzles need to be mated generally, is why I see the issue being there, experienced it myself a few times with clients that bought a lot of upgrade parts. Like said, if the stock nozzle is still intact, keep it, that's what the hop up unit is wanting to see. If you look at the end and length of nozzles, stock may be Xmm long and have a tapered tip, if you replace it with one of the same length but with a square tip, you'll likely get massive leaking. Can go the other way around too. Really no reason to upgrade/replace the stock nozzle unless yours is broken, or you bought adifferent hop up unit.

Btw, nothing DF makes is worth buying, tolerances are off and usually made of crappy materials.
