Aerial Support
I wasn't 100% sure if this is the right section to post this, It's a link to a video (not mine) of an event with helicopter support, the guy occupies a door gunner role with an M249.

Cheating but too cool. Luckily the 206 doesn't have a strong downwash, he wouldn't be as successful if it was a 412!

Did he hit anybody? maybe i blinked and missed it but I didn't see a single person even react as if they were being shot at. I'm pretty sure the downwash makes this impossible.

If it had been a 412, they would've heard him coming five minutes sooner.

Would have been really cool if they used a MD-500 "Little Bird" instead, or for some nostalgia they could have gone with a UH-1 "Huey" and a slung M60. Still though, what a fun (and very expensive) way to be totally ineffective at an airsoft event, other than perhaps pointing out enemy locations.

Airsoft grenades or just pouring a bag of BBs out the door could of been more effective, everybody got there helmets on?

He hit a few guys, you could see them pulling red flags out from behind cover after he pointed his gun in their direction.
They still heard the 206, wasn't that far from the field (right beside it actually), but I've experienced the 412's downwash at work (and the couple times I've been to Pet and Gagetown), but the biggest eye opener was being a subject of an experiment at work, was standing on the ramp and had our 412 slide over towards me at 100ft up, once it was about 150ft away I got a massive blast of air that ripped my hat and headset off. Found out after the downwash was 45 knots (~80km/h), gave me a new realisation that airsoft from a helicopter can be pretty difficult! Last edited by CDN_Stalker; June 25th, 2011 at 23:10.. |
