Echo 1 P90 Underpowered/inconsistent firing

Hi,

I have an Echo 1 P90 that seems to be underpowered, and inconsistently firing. It only seems to fire a bb every other shot, with the missed one rolling out the end of the barrel. When it does fire a bb it seems to be underpowered, as it will not penetrate a paper target 20 feet away.

I recently opened up the Gear Box to downgrade the installed 140 spring for the stock one. That was a learning experience and a half, but once I finally got the Gear Box reassembled I was running into these problems.

Are these issues a result of the downgrade, and perhaps poor reassembly of the Gear Box, or something else?

DId you by any chance put the CYLINDER back in backwards? I did that when I took mine apart.

You can also check to see if your tappet plate is on properly.

Thank you for the replies everyone.

I did take the Piston apart when I opened up the Gear Box, so I could have very well put the Cylinder in backwards.

When I open it up again, what should I look for with the Piston/Cylinder, other than simply reversing it? Is there an obvious indicator as to how it should be installed?

If it’s not the Piston/Cylinder, what should I be looking for with the Tappet Plate?

Failing my attempt at it this weekend I will be looking up a local Gun Doc.

The vent in the cylinder should be closest to the rear of the gearbox (near the spring guide). Makes sure the tappet plate is attached to the air nozzle correctly. Or you can come down to Hamilton and give it to me to look over.

I took a second shot at the Gearbox today, and found that the Tappet Plate was not attached to the Air Nozzle.
