New to airsoft in Canada

I might be staying in Canada for studying for a while after this summer, so I want to bring my full-metal M4 to Canada with me as well , how can I do it?( I want to do so pretty badly since it's pretty well built)
Also, is there any team based in Ontario recruiting members that are aged 16?( I'm going to be 16 in a few months, and I have experience with airsoft)

1) You can't. Reasons are in the FAQs.
2) Probably not. It depends on where you are. Most fields (and teams) require that you be 18+.

Where are you from? Your better off selling it, and buying a new one here. As previously mentioned, you wont be able to bring it into the country.

As mentioned, you cannot bring an airsoft gun into canada. This is because of Canadian Border Security Agency policy regarding imitation and replica firearms. There is no way around it -don't ask.

As for playing at 16:

Due to the nanny-state Canadian gun laws, and the potential legal ramifications of minors with imitation firearms, most game hosts require players to be 18+.

That's not to say you won't have a way to play. Depending on where you are going in Canada (more info would be helpful), if you have a parent or guardian willing to come to the field with you, and the game hosts, you might be able to play.

It actually has nothing to do with that. It's the legal age of responsibility/liability because you can be injured. And a bit of maturity factor, but we all know people over 18 aren't necessarily "mature".

Yes, I know it has nothing to do with it directly. But the laws have created a culture where the later is true.

(except in Ontario, where it is illegal for 18- to acquire an airsoft gun)

Either way, the end result is the same. 18+ for airsoft for the majority of airsoft games.

1) No, because if it's fun it's probably illegal or regulated. Sure it's a bit of a tongue in cheek statement but there's some truth to that

2) Most fields are 18+ but there are some that will allow 16+ or have open age limits. It all depends on host/admin and the field owners as they have last say.

It all depends on where you end up. I don't know of any places out east that minors can play at but out west there are; FVAA/Big Foot (Fraser Valley Airsoft Assn), EASY, Low Shotz, and Ambush Anonymous. I'm sure there are some out east but I don't know them since I don't really know much about the landscape of things out in the east.

In the end though it all boils down to liability and hosts not wanting to be baby sitters (sure your parents could give you ten bucks and tell you to go to the mall or w/e) but because you're a minor there is a different dynamic which includes the concept of "due care". Also waivers don't always cover everything and make it water tight. It only acts as EVIDENCE it doesn't relieve owners/hosts of liability. If there's a history of non compliance to rules stated in an insurance policy (ie. lets say allowing MilSpec ballistics to be used when it clearly states ASTM rating only) the field owner could be liable. So basically it's to cover their ass.

I'm from Hong Kong, and I probably will be studying in Toronto. So is it legal for me to play?

only at certain places ASC and most game venues enforce a 18+ policy, its all up to the game host.

You will not be able to bring your gun over, importation laws say no.

We cannot tell you where to get guns either as you are under age and un-verified as per site rules.

Yes it will be legal for you to play, but it will be hard for you to find a game that will let you in, as we tend to keep things 18+. If you show up at a game to take photos (Airsofters are vain and love to see themselves), you can make friends with the game's host and they might let you play a few rounds and join any future games they host.

Honestly when I was a minor I had no time/better things to do with my life than airsoft. Undergraduate degrees are a joke and my summer job is a 9 to 5 so I use airsoft to occupy at least one day a week in the summers, and once a month during the rest of the year.

And the kid who sits around in high school playing with toy guns isn't going to be getting any.
