Gas gun randomly shoots full auto?

I don't seem to have access to the gun doctor forum yet, so I will ask this here.

A friend of mine who isn't on here yet has a Skeleton Sidearms gas pistol (Sig P226, said to be a TM clone) and what happens is that sometimes when you pull the trigger, it will shoot once as expected, and sometimes it will fire like 4-5 rounds at a time as if it's full auto. It's about 50/50 how often it happens. Neither of us really know enough about these yet to have any idea. Mine works fine and we can't find any obvious differences between the two.

I searched on here for things like "full auto problem" and found one issue of a magazine valve being stuck. Is that always the most likely culprit? Next time we're together I will try my mag in his gun, but until then.. Any other ideas?

If your mag has the same effect, take a look at the trigger, hammer and striker assembly on your friends guns. One of those could be worn out and is slipping during normal use. On a related maintenance note, check your outer barrel, I've seen two similar guns have the outerbarrel disconnect from the ejection port cover, rendering them useless.

Ok, thanks, we'll check it out. His is fairly new though, so I can't see it being anything worn, but maybe one of the parts wasn't made right or something...

It's because the Skeleton Sidearms 226 is a piece of shit.
And no, I'm not exaggerating.

Hmm.. Well, they are supposed to be TM knockoffs, but obviously they have QC issues. At least it wasn't an expensive risk to take. I'll tell my buddy he's probably SOL and most people don't want to help out.

It's not a mater on not wanting to help; there is just no help to be had.

It's generous to call that thing a paperweight.

No, I understand.

Ok, you know what, just for fun, let's pretend it was a more respected brand with the same problem. What would you suggest then? Or maybe there's a reason this problem seems so uncommon, lol..

If it was a decent brand it would not have that problem, that's the whole point. I'm not sure if the problem is uncommon or not, but that gun is fairly new to Canada.

Yeah, that's what I meant by maybe there's a reason this problem seems so uncommon.. Well, mine seems fine for now, I guess I'm lucky. We'll see how it stands the test of time.. If nothing else, it was a good learning experience for $60.

Because the gun is so cheap, your friend should be expecting it to have problems, even if it's brand new. I don't know too much people working on those guns as the work will cost more than the gun itself. But I'm guessing the sear or hammer is worn.

You and your buddy can start swapping parts. Slides, mags, BBUs and so on.

With any luck you'll figure out what's wrong and come up with two working pistols. If you arent' lucky you may wind up with two dead pistols though.

Hey sorry to revive this, not sure if anyone cares, i would say it is a problem with the magazine's valve sticking, i have a SS 226, no real problems with it, except for that, one mag would fire a few extra rounds per trigger pull, the other didnt, clearly a magazine problem, a little bit of lube on the valve to stop it from sticking in the open position, and viola, no more full auto (although i did find it a little fun to have a 3rd burst GBB)

this worked for me, hopefully it helps your friend, did you ever actually try swapping mags? who knows maybe you do have a bigger problem, just my 2 cents

The problem is related to the trigger catch that holds the knocker. Its worn down and only catches some of time. Not worth the trouble to fix those pistols are garbage.
