POLL Is an AGM M4A1 a good project rifle?

Hello

I'm new to airsoft and I'm looking into an AGM M4A1 as a project rifle. From what I hear the AGM M4A1 is a China clone of a Western Arms M4A1. Also, I hear that the AGM will break shortly after you buy it (new or used).

When it comes down to it, I'm looking at a cheap AGM M4A1 package with leaking magazines. Then I will start learning how to get it in working order. Hoping that it would be a good learning experience and I would end up with a decent M4A1 GBBR.

At the same time I'm wondering if I should just save more money and just get the KJW M4A1.

You'll have just as much fun figuring out your kjw m4a1. And you will actually be able to find parts for it.

Don't buy garbage just because it's cheap, why do you think the person is selling it? You end up spending more money than what it's worth. Buy a good platform from the beginning and you won't be kicking yourself later. Save your money and buy the KJW

Personally, I think it sounds like a cool project. To buy a cheap GBBR and fixing it up with aftermarket parts. On top of that I'll still eventually get the KJW, just not as soon.

The problem really, is the cost to benefit ratio. If the AGM was $100 like in the States and Hong Kong, I might have done it without hesitation. In Canada, a used AGM is in the $350 range. Spending about $200 will get me a new KJW M4A1.

Aside from that there are no local airsoft stores that sell aftermarket parts. Meaning all the parts needed will have to be shipped to me. Which ruins the cost to benefit ratio in another way.

In the end, I think it would have been a cool project if the cost to benefit ratio is there. Given that airsoft stores are not common and airsoft guns are 2to 2.5 times the actual market value. Its probably not worth it.

Well I have some experience with AGM and that was because I had a diamond in the rough, it was a clone of the VSR10 that ACTUALLY WORKED. It was indeed a good starter gun for me to practice upgrading my TM VSR10, and it still worked flawlessly after i was done with everything and required little maintenance. Unfortunately, I had to sell both rifles since I was moving here; nonetheless, I was working with bolt action/spring mechanics, and GBBRs have significantly more parts that can break, so personally I would go with the KWA

I started with an AGM M4. It was junk. Leaky mags, super heavy as well. The gun internals itself were also junk. Aftermarket parts are out there, but they're almost always out of spec with the gun's tolerances.

Save your money. You can thank us all later.

save your money, don't buy the AGM crap. but not necessary go for KJW, WE and WA are superior than KJW at some point

Save your money and buy the KJW M4 because the AGM M4 will fall apart after some time of use and you will have to replace most of the parts thus spending twice the amount to buy a nice gun.
