CA M15a4 Very Intermittent Firing
Hello everyone,
Looking for some advice on a problem with my CA M15A4. Essentially, the gun works when it feels like it, and doesn't when it doesn't. When it does work, it functions flawlessley, but the problem is that it's sort of 50-50 whether anything at all will happen when you pull the trigger. Half the time it blats away and half the time (more like 75% really) there is simply no reaction whatever. It's not the battery, of that I'm sure. Now, is this likely to be a trigger wiring problem? Or perhaps a motor problem? Speaking to the local doctor, he's fine with fixing a dissassembled gun instead of a fully assembled gun for no extra cost, so I'm tempted to take it apart myself and have a crack at fixing it instead of forking out the cash. I figure I've got to learn how to do this at some point, so it may as well be when it needs doing, but I'm after some more expert advice on exactly what I might be facing. Thanks in advance, Dan |

Maybe the motor connectors. You can open the pistol grip and take a look at connectors to see if they are intact (not broken inside the rubber) and they are well connected.

If you have access to a multimeter tool, this could be your best friend at this time. You shall unplug the motor, and while on the buzzer mode on the multimeter, press the trigger, with the two multimeter ends on each motor connector. Make sure that you put something to short-circuit the battery's connector, a metal piece curved will do.
If it buzzs, then you have a good switch wiring. Otherwise, you'll need a new wiring/switch. It might also be a battery connector that is loose and doesn't make contact everytime. |

There is probably some corrosion/carbon on the trigger contacts. Does the rifle shoot more often by hot weather or when you press the trigger harder?
Also check if the trigger stops against the hole in the receiver. I have seen that a few times. If it does, the contacts in the trigger group might be too far appart. Replacing them is always a good thing. You can buy a very good replacement trigger and wire set from Action. The quality is very good and the contacts are very thick. |

The thing i have found on most CA's is that you have to do full trigger pulls or for some reason it will half fire and get stuck and sometimes blows the fuse, usually switching from semi to full auto will remedy this i have yet to figure out what causes this but it is common amongst CA's.
