WE SCAR does not fire in semi-auto mode
I just bought a WE Scar from a fellow AC member. I knew beforehand that the gun can only shoot in automatic mode, even in semi-auto mode and now I am getting around in fixing it.
Does anybody know how I can fix this? Thanks! |

First thing I would do is watch these 2 videos.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...otation_154965 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...otation_622883 It shows you step by step how to take apart the lower receiver and trigger mechanism. Then if your ballsy enough, do it yourself. There is a chance a piece inside there isn't working properly or broken. You may find it. Just to get things started, if you take off the lower receiver and move the selector switch, do you see the long black piece responding to each turn? |

Hi Ross, thanks for replying back.
I have asked the original owner of the gun and he has mentioned that it may be due to a worn out trigger. I've replaced this, but now there's an issue with the lower receiver, specifically the firing mode selector. When the cocking handle is not cocked back, the selector, no matter which mode you select, makes the trigger feel like it's on safety mode. However, if I move the cocking handle back and keep it pushed back, the mode selector will make the trigger work properly. I've tried rotating the mode selector pin around so that it has a different orientation going in the receiver. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks Ross. |

O dear. Thats a new one for me. So what this translates to is, when the trigger hammer is up, the gun is on safe no matter what. But when the hammer is down, the trigger will click it back up in semi and full auto no problem? You should test that with the lower receiver removed.
Edit* Oh wait what did you replace the trigger with? did you replace the trigger, hammer, knocker, and stuff, or did you just replace one part? I may know your problem. Last edited by Ross; November 8th, 2010 at 15:57.. |

Yup. It's very weird. It's not like the selector shaft is symmetrical, which would make sense if the problem is due to me not placing the shaft in the correct orientation.
I only replaced the trigger itself. Only one part. Please tell me you know what's wrong! |

when you put the selector shaft back through the receiver, did it go in the right way? The asymmetry is due to the arm on the full-auto sear, and the larger gap needs to be on the left side, under that arm.

Is the trigger you replaced significantly smaller than the original? I bought a whole cnc trigger kit from ratech. Everything was compatible with the gun except the trigger. It was way too small. the trigger wouldn't pull in semi or full. I didn't dare try to cock it, i just put the stock one back in and it worked fine.

I'm pretty sure I put in the selector shaft in the right way, or else it wouldn't fit.
The trigger is the same as the stock. Any other ideas? |

something in the lower reciever is either not assembled right, broken, or warped. I think someone has to take a look at it. there are a lot of little parts in there. does it still happen when the lower is removed from the gun?

Boo-urns. Yes it is still like this when it is removed from the gun

when you toggle the selector switch, does the long metal piece in there respond?

I'm assuming you are talking about the long metal black piece that sits on the top-right of the receiver.
Yes, it responds. I've taken a few pictures. It's quite hard taking pictures of the inside part though.. |

I don't know why I didn't mention this earlier, but I cannot rotate the selector all the way to Safety. It just stops around mid-way from Semi to Safety. It is fine for the other modes though.

something definitely isn't installed right. have you taken apart everything and reinstalled it the same way that guy in those youtube videos did?

Yeah, I'm planning on reassembling everything again. I hope I didn't break any parts by not installing the parts properly though!
I'll update my status here when I'm done with it. Thanks for your help Ross! |
