A.F.A.I.K and "I think..."

1 - If you are responding here to a newb asking a question
2 - if your post will contain AFAIK
3 - If you post will contain " I thought" or "I think"

Do us all a favor and don't post. If you don't know the answer, you are misdirecting the education of a newb at best and being fucking annoying at worst.

Don't be that guy.

This I can agree with.

There are a few unverified members here that should really, really, really read this.

... *I think* that no one will read this, just like T7's advice/posts

*AFAIK* most users who are unverified are total experts in airsoft so they can totally educate other users.

Seriously though, it would help a lot but I don't think anything will come of this since you can't really implement a system like that and unverified users will still post their "expert advice" anyways.

Many many users "know" certain things about airsoft the same way thay the Earth was known to be flat or that the sun orbits the Earth. I seem to recall seeing a thread last year where someone suggested that you should have to be a member for two or three years (can't remember which) to be able to respond in the newb tank. Thats was a very good idea. While this won't solve all the problems it will curtail very many of them.

for the short time I've been here I've notice new members (not av'ed) offer help and assistance on some very complex subjects, but then turn around and ask for help with things that just require common sense. Now does that seem logical? I don't think so.

My wife has a saying for issues like this... "the blind leading the naked" which if you just think about that image.. is pretty apt

everyone says I think though.... damnit! I said it!

I think...shit! that people with join dates of 2008 and earlier (07,06,05 etc) should be the only ones to answer, you can learn alot on a year or a few months but that doesn't mean your ready to teach, I don't think I ever see good advice from people with 2010 in their join dates, rarely (like diamond rare) for 2009.

but the support for that would be impossible for mod's to check on dates all the time, unless there's a program that would only allow certain members to post in exsisting threads (anyone can make a thread so to keep the newbie tank alive, or else how would they ask?) of a certain join date

I still think that "Gundoc" tags should come into play..

That way people will have another way of realizing "oh maybe what this guy has to say is right" instead of "USE A HAMMER AND GLUE YOUR HOP-UP RUBBER TOGETHER" sort of advice.

It's not just unverified users.

There are a lot of age verified users that don't know what they're talking about either.
I'm looking at *YOU* Amos.....

Kidding!

I believe that there there should be form of requirement for people to give answers in the newbie tank. It would weed out 80% of those useless get age verified posts. Spamming "get av'd" to people is useless unless you explain what it means, what it entails and what the benefits are.

Plus after a while I could have some other invisible friends to be invisible with.

Its so lonely here.
