Mach1 VFC SCAR-L or OWA ARES SCAR-L?
I'd love to purchase a SCAR-L, and I've come across these two options. They seem relatively similar in almost every way to me, so I was wondering if any of you guys have any opinions on which one will be a better performer, more reliable, or durable, especially on the internals, which I don't know much about.
Thanks so much. Mach1 VFC SCAR-L vs OneWorldAirsoft ARES SCAR-L |

If I remember right and assuming it still stands, the general consensus here is that VFC makes the absolute best SCAR AEG.

vfc scar is an amazing gun my buddy has the scar H, there is only one flaw with the internals, if u up the spring u will also want to up the pinston as the teeth will sheer off after about 20-30000 rounds. But as scar's go vfc has the best ones by far

The VFC is extremely reliable, and one of the best built AEG's made.
However, the ARES has quite a few functions that you may be interested in. |

Thanks so much for the responses!
I'm still making up my mind whether I want the heavy or light version, I was leaning more towards light because of the ease of acquiring mags, as they take standard M4, is that correct? It seems the heavy mags may be a little more inconvenient to get. What functions do the ARES models have that differ from VFCs? |

Daiviet is the oh so knowledgeable one when it comes to SCARs. He was the one to help me decide which to buy.
I own the VFC SCAR-L. I highly suggest getting the Light version since it takes M4/M16 mags whereas the SCAR-H mags are harder to find and are not as abundant. Plus, I don't think Magpul PTS makes SCAR-H mags either, and they make the SEXIEST mags ever. Daiviet owns the ARES SCAR-L. He wrote a very extensive review on it. Use the search function and do your reading. There are several interesting functions on it such as the quick switch spring. I am very new to airsoft so I haven't had a chance to try out an ARES SCAR-L. However, since I do own a VFC SCAR-L, I can tell you this gun is a beauty. And yes, supposedly the VFC SCAR-L is the most accurate replica on the market. VFC takes great pride in their externals as well and this really shows. The internals have not failed me yet. Only time something broke was when I was being curiously stupid, ended up twisting my inner barrel VERY vigorously, and broke the hop up sleeve. Other than that, both internals and externals are awesome. They can run LiPos but I would rather use NiMHs. It is not because I don't have enough knowledge to use LiPos (I've actually spent my last whole co-op work term working with all Li batteries extensively, all day every day) but because I do not want to stress my internals too much. I might switch to LFPs some day because I love the new tech, but we will have to see. Also, it is VERY hard to scratch the externals. I've dropped it and dragged it up a rock-filled near-vertical hill while I was climbing it and no scratches whatsoever. Only scratches are on the bolt catch slide because I slide it back a lot to listen to the oh-so-satisfying click clack and adjust my hop-up from time to time. |

Thanks so much with all the help guys! It looks like I'm gunna go with a VFC light version.
Now comes the toughest part for me....black or tan!! :P |

Both look very nice. The only thing I find with the TAN SCARs is there different between the coloration of the upper and lower receiver. Because the upper receiver is metal while the lower receiver is ABS Plastic, the coloration is off. The top looks more metallic and gold while the bottom looks closer to tan.
Black is a very close match...well obviously. It's hard to mismatch black against black. :P |

I LOVE black, but it seems like a shame for a SCAR to not be tan, as it pulls it off so nicely!
