A potential BB problem?
HI guys. This is my first post on this site and I'm quite excited. Before I start, I'd first like to say I'm no "n00b" at airsoft. I've been collecting for about a year and I'm really enjoying it. The latest gun I bought, the GameFace GF15A4 (M4 model) is made by GameFace, which is a division of Crosman. Crosman basically re-packaged the Classic Army M4 sportline, so don't say I bought some shitty Wal-Mart gun. It shoots 350 FPS. Whne I first opened it, I was eager to use it, so I made a big mistake and used my Wal-Mart .12 grams, because I didn't have any .20 grams with me (some excuse) and it seemed to work fine. 2 weeks later I bought some Cybergun tactical .20 gram polished BB's and they didn't shoot. Nothing. I siliconed everything, shoved rods down everything, and nothing. Do you think I may have done permanent damage?

The brands you had listed are far from quality, so essentially you had just baught 'Walmart quality trash'. I'm saying this because I have made the mistake of buying a Classic Army Sportsline gun.
Everything about the rifle was simply prone to problems from build quality to the material used. The barrel itself was a very cheap metal and was anodized a shiny blue for some reason, it didn't take much effort at all to dent into the metal using an edge from a metal object. Now, the problem here is simply the ammo. Quality isn't determined by the weight of the BB, but rather the brand. .12 grams are trash, and anything cybergun is trash. I decided to buy some 'Cybergun' .20gram bb's just to see what they're like and to be honest, i dont think i would even put those things through a springer pistol. They have little bumps everywhere, they're unpolished and powdery and very brittle. Even though they may be polished, the consistancy of the BB itself is really... Off, chances are the BB's are just too big or bulbous to fit through or past the hopup rubber. I'm not sure, Its hard to tell simply from words. I'd suggest you give a shot at buying BBBastard bb's from a local supplier or go to airsoftparts.ca and buy madbull. Run those through your guns and see how they work. Hopup rubber might be damaged or shredded. You'd have to take it apart to look at it.
Cybergun BB's are not a whole lot better than the Walmart ones. Use real BB's from BBBastard. The only thing you should EVER use walmart BB's for is in a grenade. |

Thanks for the comments guys-I'm going to buy some BB bastards today, but do you thinkn that after about 1000 .12 grams fired, there would be gearbox damage?

You said you oiled everything and shoved a rod in it. Well, if you oiled the wrong parts and shoved a rod in the barrel without having a clue off where you should stop, you could have destroyed your hopup. And oiled it on top of that, wich is bad.

But not all is lost! I'd recommend you get age verified and find some games in your neck of the woods. Getting out to a game (you should be able to find a rental, contact the game organizer) is the best way to get into the sport. |

Yea from my limited info anything "sportsline" has terrible internals. Not sure about BBs but from what I know .12 ones are just for dicking around with ye-clear-plastic-neon-nosers...
Hope u get it fixed man, but really u should be saving ur dollars for a nice one when u turn 18. |
