Systema magnum motor no action!!

I recently installed my new Systema magnum motor (Long) + G&P 8mm bearing gearbox on my G&P m4. I hooked up my 8.4v 1600mah battery but nothing happened. The motor does not move at all. No movement and no sound. I noticed the fuse box was warm when the battery was connected. Any idea?

If the motor spins outside of the gearbox and not when installed, it could be that your shimming is too tight or that your motor height is too high.

Hold onto the motor firmly when you try to spin it up out of the pistol grip.

also don't forget that magnums are pretty crappy in my experience - u typically need a beastly battery to run them reliably lol - 8.4 mini might not cut it...

What's the min requirement of Magnum? I thought 8.4v 1600mah should be enough.

I have two magnums. my 8.4 1100 mah only lasts around 30 minutes lol. They are battery killers. If you are running +400 fps an 8.4 won't be enough. anything less and should at least fire.

As soon as the fuse box or the area where the fuse was get's hot, for the love of Christ stop. I've fried a battery continually trying.

I'm using just a SystemA High Torque motor and I'm sure the magnum requires more juice, and I'm shooting 400FPS and my 8.4v 1600mAh mini battery isn't strong enough to pull it. I have to use my 9.6v. Ask a friend if you can try out a 9.6v, preferably 2000mAh or higher, on your rifle. If it pulls, you just need a stronger battery. If it doesn't:

1) Check your gears. You should be able to rotate them slightly without opening the gearbox. If you can't, disassemble and re-align your gears. If you still can't, reshim.
2) Check motor height. Sometimes the motor isn't deep enough, sometimes it's pressing way too hard and is just grinding against your gears.

So... I would need at least 9.6v 1600+mah battery for my magnum to shoot over 400+fps. Am I correct?

If you have the cash, I'd invest in a larger one. If you have the space to accomodate, I'd recommend just using a 9.6v 2000mAh or a 9.6v 3600mAh. There's also crane stock batteries, I believe they are around 2300-2600mAh. If you don't have the cash on hand, try and save a couple bucks to get a large battery, the extra $20 or so is quite worth it.

There's also plenty of PEQs available to store batteries, or you can just use a battery bag. For about $120 you can get 2 9.6v 1600mAh batteries and a PEQ that holds it. Carry both batteries on field (I carry my spare in a medic pouch), when one dies, simply swap them out, easy as pie, and you're good to go again mid-game. When you get back to the safe zone, just recharge the dead one (If you have a charger available at the game).

Have you tried the motor hooked-up outside the gun or not?

Magnum motors have an aluminum endbell. Aluminium conducts electricity. If the motor or connectors are not properly assembled/insulated, you basically are pluging both ends of the battery with a big wire.

Under no load, every single motor that can be fitted in an airsoft rifle will spin on 8.4v 1600mAh 2/3A cells. Actually, everything up to size 700 motor (airsoft motors are in the area of 430 size) will spin under no load on that battery.
