No they're not.

Silicon lube contains a high solvent level and it'll kill your rubber parts.

Seeing as this post concerned me (because "silicone greaseless lubricant" is what's in my toolkit) I checked the can.. and on it, it specifically states "Lubricant applications: wood, glass, plastic, aluminum, rubber, and nylon." So I guess my comment is: why would they put rubber right on the label if it degrades rubber?

I belive Amos is talking about the typical spray can of silicon folks grab from Canadian tire.

There are other places than airsoft to find pure silicon grease and oil but if you aren't sure you should stick with a brand name.

Cause its Canadian Tire, and they are just handicapped. The propellant in the spray is a factor towards the breakdown of seriously important rubber components. Amos is definatly a guy to listen too. A friend of mine a few years back used it and thought it would happen immediately and was like "oh well nothing happened its all still there", yeah he was a dumba** and had to get a few new internal parts for his ICS M4 after about 5 or 6 weeks. Its a little difficult to source in stores with out petroleum products in it, at least in Calgary it is,(again breaks down the rubber) so I usually just get it from Airsoft-Innovations.com ( link http://www.airsoft-innovations.com/GBBoil.html). There are also so many threads on this issue with lots of imput.

You can also go to an RC shop and get light weight silicon shock oil... I can't exactly remember the numbers because for the last year I've been working off of the same bottles of AI oil...

That is shitty advertising then seeing how it says "safe on rubber". I'm not saying anything here other than that is shitty advertising. I've been using that lube on my m733 since november 09 with no issues......yet *facepalm*

i was watching the noob gun maintanance video where the guy lubricates his barrel and his mid/low cap spring mag. How do we lubricate high caps? small spray at BB release and where the BBs come out?

I just logged on JOCairsoft ( calgary airsoft community site) and asked them where i can find some in city. I hope i get a reply soon.

... I haven't owned enough highcaps to know... but I don't think you really need to lubricate highcaps, they don't run on the same compressed spring/follower system that non-highcap mags run on.

So the 3-1 is no good I guess? MSDS doesn't lie? Advertising does?

Unless you want your BB's to not go straight as they pickup lube from the walls of the barrel.

Only time I use a drop or two of lube in a barrel is to clean it, but it is immediately followed with 2 clean and dry squares of cloth to remove any signs of lube and dirt.
