Re: Silicone Lubricant?
Read the contents. Does it contain petroleum distilates? If it does, don't use it as it will destroy plastic parts and orings.

It containes "Petroleum Distiillants" and will eat away at rubber/plastic parts of your gun. DO NOT USE IT IN YOUR AIRSOFT GUN! I've seen the same product at Canadian Tire and did not buy it.

If you want to buy some silicone oil, free of petroleum distilates, I suggest buying it at at local hobby shop. Silicone oil is often used in RC car shocks, so you will be sure they'll have some.

Forive me for being complete noob...
But what is silicone oil for? And where to apply them? |

Well, I use silicone oil to clean the inner barrel ( not on the hopup ), and I add it to propane when filling GBB mags. It can also be used to lube aeg mags who misfeed a bb or 2 sometimes.
there are some other use, but for now I can only think of these.

Any o-ring is lubed and I keep that shit out of my barrel. Its the first thing I do after I clean my AEG mags (duster can sprayed through the mid-caps, its in dusty southern AB) and the last thing I do before assembling a mech-box. Only need a bit and the shock oil is 10-20wt if your interested, anything in that range will do but I like 15wt. If you put it down your barrel it will get on your hop-up and make it lose friction. In other words it will make your hop-up all funky and not work for about 5,000 rounds haha!

When I bought my M4 the shop guys told me to put a little squirt of silicone oil into the feed hole up in the mag well before a game. Judging by some of the responses here, I take it that that is not a good idea?

I think this might work:
http://www.mach1airsoft.com/web/cata...m&id=89&cat=20 But what is the difference between this one?: http://www.mach1airsoft.com/web/cata...m&id=88&cat=20 It says there both silicone oil but one is for lube, the other is gear grease? |

Just think it through, your hop-up works by creating friction. The rubber is used because its grippy. The silicone is super slippery and if it gets in your barrel it will get on your hop-up.
