Most Bang for my Buck

First off:

I do not want this to turn into a newb flame fest. There have been many upgrade threads posted before. I just want to know what ASC thinks is best for me. I have purchased a G&G GR16 A2. Purchased from velocityarms, (Nothing but praise for them). I am going to play a lot bushwhacking stile airsoft. I was wondering what upgrades I should get first. I want a little more power, 300 FPS currently, but I also want accuracy. To me power is nothing if you can't hit them.

So my question is, what are the best starting upgrades to get, (I am broke currently so cheaper is better).

Thanks!

Cheaper? Than cheap price will get you cheap quality for a cheap gun. After that, your gears will fail, and you would have to go buy better quality parts. Better saving up to buy something worth it, than spending 2 times.

If you want power, upgrade your inner barrel, hop up sleeve, and how much power do you want?

stick with just installing a longer TB and better hopup rubber. I'm assuming the mechbox has metal bushings and a metal spring guide but you could also throw a bearing spring guide and maybe the modify s100/110 spring in it.

I am just broke right now. I want to be able to have 350 fps~. Unfortunately the guys I want to play with have a lot of guns that are getting to the point of being too hot. This is my very first airsoft gun. As such, I want to have some more power (400fps is the limit not a goal, something I take to heart). This is eventually going to become an Armalite sniper rifle.

If you're shooting 300... I think that's a bit low. Don't those come stock ~360 FPS on .20's?

Cheapest upgrades would probably be hop-up unit, bearing spring guide, and stronger spring, piston, and cylinder head. Although... to be honest things do add up pretty quickly.

If you want accuracy then the hop-up unit and (soft) rubber are probably what you want first, then a tightbore (you will see an increase in FPS and accuracy) I believe 6.03 or 6.04 tightbores are what's recommended (no tighter than that).

Normally yes, the G&G guns shoot 350~ stock.... My G&G came with a "300 FPS stock velocity".... So I decided to poor mans chrono the gun. It punched through both sides of the Coke can and put a hole in my dry wall. So I tried the bottom. It managed to severally dent the bottom, I even saw cracks. So I am guessing this is hotter than originally presumed . Still I have decided on a new hop up and a Tight bore as my first upgrades.

a tightbore and a good hop up bucking should add accuracy and about 10-15 fps in a gun with that length a barrel.....
other then that...leave it alone or you will start to spend a lot of money quickly once you crack open the gearbox.....lol
Good luck

Prometheus Perfect Metal Chamber + Prometheus Soft Hop-Up

Is what I was told to get. (Haven't bought them yet due to some financial problems with my University Summer term and all) It really does add up pretty quickly though since those two parts will add up to ~$45 USD (numbers are off redwolf).

Madbull or JBU 6.03 tightbore and take your pick on the bucking. I have had good and bad results with all of the major aftermarket brands....

Try not to use Madbull or JBU tightbores. They use Aluminum which is the cheapest and lightest material used for inner barrel making. Not to mention they are the most easily scratched.

If you want around 350FPS, go get yourself a Modify or Prometheus M100spring, or M110.

Hope that helps

hehe...evryone is an expert...I have had great success with both Madbull and JBU....so..
if you are a putz and bang your gear around when you are installing things then you will have problems...but once they are installed you will have no problems.....but whatever. Like I said...everyone is an expert here so take it all with a grain of salt. BUT...if you are on a budget cracking the gearbox is the last on your list....

PDI are currently the best in AEG tighbores, followed closely by Prometheus, which I'd suggest you to get. Prommy' are cheaper than PDI yet high quality, and offer a good bang for your buck.

Madbull tightbores have (or had? Ive heard it changed it recent versions, but it has not been confirmed) an inner coating which will eventually peele off, destroying your accuracy and possibly damaging your hopup.

As the other said, hop-up is (together with the tightbore) the most important thing to get good accuracy. Prometheus hopups are good, but I've previously been suggested a Guarder metal high performanced hopup chamber with a Guarder hopup rubber (soft for low velocities, harder for higher velocities) for its cheaper price yet good performance.
But don't take my word on the hopup, I may have misundestood but I think that was it... Either way, it still gives you a direction in which you can search.
