V3 wpm
Edit, could a mod please change the title to V3 won't cycle. I accidentally hit enter and accepted the thread name after I made a typo and meant to hit backspace. Thanks!
I've got a strange problem with a V3 I'm working on. With the spring out, the gun can fully cycle by hand (I can turn the gears, and they completely cycle, catch the piston properly, bring it all the way back, and then "release it", ie, stop catching it). However, when the spring is in and the mechbox closed, it only half cranks the piston back. Every time. With a fully charged (yes, confirmed, I used it on a SystemA M120 box) battery. So it will only cycle half way, at which point it freezes up. If I release the spring, then I can by hand continue to crank the gears, while the box is closed, until it is all the way back. It is only when the spring is in that it won't crank all the way back. I am using a 10.8V battery (large), so the battery is not an issue. Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

do you have another motor to test and eliminate that possibility? also try playing around with motor height.
make sure the piston is seated in the rails properly and slides smoothly. also, close up the box without the spring and motor, and check your shimming. |

No other spare motor, I don't own any V3s, so no short motor. However, the motor works, connected it directly to a power source while out of the motor cage. Motor height is not a factor, I fiddled with it, it is at a proper height.
Piston is seated perfectly. Nothing is in the wrong place. Shimming is good, I even reshimmed it just to be sure.

Check that the spring isn't getting bound up between the piston and the spring guide...with it all out of the mechbox, you should be able to compress it by hand, pushing down on something solid. If it catches a bit, it might be binding when being pulled back by the motor/gears.
Try a different motor...this has fixed others in the past where the mechbox would pull a M90/100 but nothing harder. Make sure your wiring is clean. Bits and pieces badly spliced together will rob your motor of juice. Best of luck, Tys |

I would definitely bet it is the wiring actually. It is not my mechbox.
Wired with a trigger master, but the wiring leaves something to be desired. Lots of poor connections with wires spliced, and wrapped in layers of elec. tape. I will try stripping the wiring down to bare minimum and see what happens. I will also try to get my hands on a spare motor. Edit: It cannot be the wiring. I connected short, clean wires directly from the motor to the battery, bypassing the poor wiring and the trigger master.

Could actually still be the wiring... The wiring from motor to trigger master, or in my jury rigged motor right to battery, is 18 gauge wiring. Spring seems relatively stiff, at least m100, but I would wager M110 or more. Think wiring this small could be an issue?
Other than that, the only other culprit I can see is the motor.

Just because your motor runs outside the gun under no load doesn't mean it will work under load while pulling a spring.
Wiring could be the issue as well. |

I will have to try swapping the wiring and then swapping the motor.

If everything is running like butter with a light load (try a stock or M90/S90 spring)....but not with a stiffer spring....swap the motor.
