Alright, so I grabbed this gun as a fixer a few months ago. The guy that had it was selling it cause the selector switch wasn't functioning properly, of which he had no idea what to do with.
It also had an issue with binding gears, and the motor was pretty much fried, so yesterday I got in a high speed Guarder gear set and an EG1000.
So now that it's finally operating, I wanted to make it more accessory friendly. I've searched for all sorts of parts to make this possible. Upon searching I found some RS parts that would clamp onto the surpressor with 1-2 one inch mounts for torches and lasers.
But it still didn't appeal to me, so upon further searching I can across a new front end made for SD models by G&G. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=12609
But being a bodyman, I decided to construct something of my own.
I ordered a rail set made for the G36 models that were the perfect length for the SD forgrip.
My father and I own a body shop so I decided to put my skills to the test. I grabbed some 20g sheet metal, cut it to fit the size of the forgrip then fed it through the rollers. The rollers simply put an upward force on the metal as you feed it through curving it. It took many passes till it finally got to the proper size. Once fitting, cutting, and grinding it was completed I need to drill the mounting holes and tap them out so it would be able to hold a threaded screw. Making sure they were straight and even, mounted it on and adjusted as needed. I just finished it off with a matt black coat on the foregrip and here is the finished project:




Pay no attention to the 'crooked' beam from the laser, I had adjusted to accomidate my M4 and haven't adjusted it since.

However, is it just me, or do those side rails look like they're pointing downwards rather than being in line with the bore?

might just be the angle the picture was taken....

I though that at first too, but then noticed it's like that in all the pics. It's particularly visible in the last shot with the laser. Even if it was the angle, the beam should be in line with the bore.

The rails are straight, I also JUST mounted them so they may need some tweaking. I've already notice the right side isn't bang on.

Psst.... It's posted right above the picture with the laser....

I've been planning on doing the exact same thing with my SD2. Although I wasn't going to create a whole new foregrip, I was going to ever so carefully drill in to the existing foregrip and with some good sized washers and some appropriate nuts, bolt the rails to the foregrip. I like what you've done but I don't have the technology to do that.

That is unless you want to hook me up with one?

That was my original plan, but I didn't like the idea of ruining the original grip. I'd like it to be possible to change back if I wanted, plus I think the steal looks better.
