I remember in one of the episodes when they were issued their random Mac V Sog weapons, that it was so they weren't US Govt. issue. I dunno, just a random clip I can recall.
And if you really want to portray Zeke, I suggest you have a KD ratio of 1,000,000,000:0. |

This is kind of off topic, but what were the chances of a infantry platoon like Goldman's actually making it to MACV or Team Viking status? I'm guessing it is very slim.

The other reasons that elite units used AK 47s was to ensure that they could use enemy ammunition in situations were they were unable to resupply.

I'm not sure how wide spread that practice was, although I'm certain it did occur. In the book SOG, there's documentaion of an initiative to infiltrate PAVN/NLF supply caches and replace standard ammunition with defective bullets. These would cause the weapon to explode when fired. It was quite effective since documents were later recovered aknowledging a 'defective' batch of ammunition from China and to not use it until it was replaced.
I'm not certain if this would interfere with the use of PAVN/NLF ammunition for SOG/LRRP teams. |
