Pistol Lanyward - Help or hindrance?

Ya, inner tube is what to use. I think the size I bought is 14 x 1 7/8". Except you don't use a little bit, you cover as much of the grip as possible and leave enough extra at the bottom to fold over the front of your mag. When you want the mag out or plan to change mags often (like in CQB), you just fold it out of the way. Feels great on the gun, works like a charm. Works best on Glocks, but only GBB I tried it on besides those is a Hi Capa, and that was a challenge. Just make sure to turn it inside out before putting it on, that way you get the smooth powdered side on the outside, helps the tube stick to the grip. I also have inner tube on both of my MP5 grips.

just wounering how one would attach a Lanyard to a glock 18c as there is no loop to ty to under the grip

There is a little hollow spot on the rear of the pistol grip. I drilled a small hole at the bottom and attached it there.

Or you can get the lanyard insert, which drops into the open void behind the mag..

Maybe a it would be a cool product to put a lightly sprung lanyard spool inside a Safariland holster!

I'm thinking of a spool with 50lb spectra line with a light retract force kind of like an ID badge kind of retention spool. It could be integrated inside a holster so you don't have any external loose coil when the gun is holstered!

If one has a Serpa holster, does that negate the need for a pistol lanyard? The locking system that those have seems to hold the pistol VERY well, so is the lanyard of any use with that system?

Just my view of things, no holster is perfect in all situations. And since the government won't issue me another gun if I lose mine, I would use lanyards in all situations, if anything just for that peace of mind that the odds of losing a pistol are statistically improbable.

Regardless of the specs of your holster. Murphy's Law. Better safe than sorry. That's just my personal opinion. I just got mine. I'd rather run around with the knowledge that if my holster malfunctions, my gun won't be left way back in the weeds. I have a Safariland 6004 for my M9 and 1911.

I've been considering getting a lanyard ever since my USP fell out of my holster into the sand at Splatter's. Granted, it was because my holster broke, but it was still a hell of a cleanup. That being said, They seem to run for about 30 bucks or so, and I'm a cheap bastard who likes to pick things up locally.

Would this work alright?

If it's equivalent to going with a CYMA/JG, etc as opposed to a TM/CA,etc (As one person who I forgot the name of put it...like taking a big greasy shit and not wiping your ass) then I'll probably buck up and spend the extra 20...but I thought I'd ask first.

Well....if you're worried about your gun hitting the ground or going into sand if you drop it, a lanyard isn't going to help. It's still going down to the ground. It'll just help you to not lose it.

Fair enough...it was a cost vs. fail comparison, and if it'll work to not lose it, that's great. Though I was thinking...what if you anchored it under your armpit somehow? I'm 6'3" so that gives me about 5 feet from armpit to ground at full extension...that strikes me as somewhat impractical though. And yes, I know it won't help much with the falling out...that's why I just modified my holster. bloody shoulder holster.....never shopping at AAA surplus again......but I'm happy with what I pulled off somehow I think there's another section of the boards for talking about that. *searches*

Spend your money on a decent holster. If you're short on cash, it's more expensive to replace your GBB, isn't it? Seriously people, "universal" holsters AREN'T. Lanyards are ok, and a good fallback option, but make sure you have a decent holster or leave your gbb at home.
