DIY AT4
ok, so since this was necro'ed in another thread, i thought that I would pull my "at4" out of the closet, snap a few pics, and tell how I made it in a quick DIY. THis was going to just be a quick post, but turned into a full(ish) how to.
and here it is: This was made entirely with ABS, an electric sprinkler valve, and some odds and ends I had lying around. It fills with any kind of bike pump or air compresser with the standard tire stem that is in the end of the fill tank. Price: 2-3$ can be found at any farm supply or TSC store. As can be seen, the stem fits into a hold drilled into an end cap on the 3" ABS bringing the total DIA for the base to 3.5. Around that is added a 4" to 3.5" reducing bushing mearly for looks. The length of the resivor is around 14" long and necks down to 1.5". A ABS bushing allows the 1" thread on the Electric Sprinkler valve to mate with the air tank. As can be seen, there is a round molding i filed and fitted around the valve to keep the looks in check. No point in having an abortion that shoots rockets. The valve can be found at any Home Depot in the sprinkler section for around 20$ The solinoid works great with two 9V batts, though if needed one will suffice. The trigger can be done any way you want it, as you can see, mine is a retangle electronics project box that has been shaved to match the curve of the barrel with 2 switches in it. In my set-up, flick the top switch forware to arm the weapon. Push the lit up green switch to fire. The box is held on the side with all purpose weather caulking. The electronic project box can be found at The Source for something like 10 bucks. And the front. I used a 2" inner barrel that joined the sprinkler valve much the same as the back half. I joined it with the Sprinkler valve shroud with a pipe union, added a similer tip(3.5" to 4" reducer) as the back for balance, and ABS glued some scraps of the 3" pipe in between the outside barrel and the inner to keep things sturdy. This should give anyone with any skill an idea of ONE of the ways to make an airsoft AT4 launching type weapon thingie. Barrel sizes can be whatever fits the projectile you wish use. I find now and then you can find some great foam rockets at the dollar store for firing. Dollar store rockets: Also I should mention that you can take a styrofoam cup, stick it into the 2" pipe untill it stops, cut with a knife the extra off, make two, fill with bbs, and tape the sides together for a nice projectile that explodes on impact. To give you an idea what i'm talking about heres a picture: Also you can put them into the barrel un-taped to have a sabot like round and a shotgun like effect. Having used this, I find the foam rockets more practical from a gaming point of view, especially for taking out our vechiles. The ABS pipe is rated to around 60 PSI i believe, although I must admit to putting around 150PSI into it with the air pig. Suprisingly enough, the foam rocket actually flies the furthest and straightest with less pressure. About 15-20 psI, or 15 pumps with the larger type of bike pumps. I at first started with the ball valve mathod of firing the rocket, but the twisting motion required to let the air out all at once drops the accuracy down the crapper. There is absolutly no comparison to being able to fire at the touch of a button. Anyway, there you go, a quick how-to, forgive the spelling as im just wipping this off before bed. HAve fun, and build cool sh**!

In answer to both the above questions; when the snow melts I'll make a video showing it in use "taking out" our airsoft blazer, which should give an estimation of its FPS, then ill also show a vid of it at 150PSI from the airpig if I can find a target far enough away to shoot
